Thank you for the opportunity to share my experience working with Craig Gillespie. In early 2012, I confessed to my employer that I had been embezzling money to support an out of control gambling addiction. Having never broken any laws before and being completely in the dark with how the legal proc...ess works, I was beyond scared. I researched attorneys on line and wanted to make sure I had an attorney who had a strong Avvo rating. I called Mr. Gillespie's office and was pleased that I was able to meet with Craig Gillespie that afternoon. Mr. Gillespie listened carefully and took notes. He calmly explained the situation I was facing and did not sugar coat the seriousness of my crime. I felt comfortable with Craig and hired him as my legal counselor. It was by far the best decision I have ever made! What surprised me about the AZ legal system is the long length of time it takes for cases to reach a conclusion. It was 2 years and 7 months later before I was arrested. I was grateful that Craig Gillespie was still there by my side. The charges were serious. I was facing (2) Level 2 Felonies. The prosecution was pursuing 6-9 years in prison. Due to AZ Mandatory Minimum Sentencing Guidelines, I was aware that the minimum sentence I could receive included at least 1 year incarceration. Craig Gillespie went to work to help me submit an extensive mitigation package. He worked with my counselors and support group to learn more about my mental history and he took over the legal proceedings so I could focus on my recovery. He truly seemed to care about my situation and what led me to cross the line into criminal behavior. I was grateful to have Craig by my side during the many hearings in front of the Judge. He was extremely professional, a great orator and clearly had a strategy in place for my defense and mitigation. Craig Gillespie skillfully negotiated a plea deal which I accepted for 1-4 years. While this was still frightening to me, it was a much better offer than the original 6-9 years. In the end, I was sentenced to 1.25 years in prison by a thoughtful judge who understood the power of addiction and who was clearly impressed by the mitigation case that Mr. Gillespie submitted. Due to an early release for good behavior, I served 7 1/2 months. In my view, Craig Gillespie saved my life and I am eternally grateful.

In 2013 I was charged with a felony domestic violence offense. The charge I felt was unwarranted and I wanted to fight to get it dismissed. I consulted with a few criminal defense attorneys before selecting Craig to represent me. Most of the lawyers told me it would be unlikely to get the the case di...smissed but possible to plead to a lessor charge. However, I did not want a plead... I wanted a dismissal. Craig was one of the only lawyers willing to support me in this decision, knowing the difficulties and possible outcome. I selected him to represent me based his support, experience and affordability. Other lawyers wanted more money to take my case and did not want to fight for me as I felt Craig would. Craig's support along with his expertise in dealing with the courts and prosecutors handling got my case transfer to another court and reviewed by a new prosecutor which eventually allowed me to enter a diversion program. My participation in the diversion program got my case dismissed, instead of pleading guilty to a lessor offense. Ultimately a better outcome. I truly appreciate the assistance Craig and his office provided me, they kept me informed along the way and even after months of waiting for dismissal, they never forgot about me or my case. This type of personalized attention and care is hard to find. I would definitely recommend Craig to anyone is a similar situation and needing a lawyer on their side.

I am incredibly grateful for the excellent job that Dave and Craig did in representing me throughout the 11 month process of resolving my DUI. As a health care worker the outcome had the significant consequences for my professional license therefore I was very anxious about the result. I had a criminal case filed against me. Another lawyer, a friend of the family, had tried to help but really caused some serious issues for me. After asking friends and reviewing many attorneys on the internet, I felt Craig would be the best suited to help me. I was right!!! After I explained eve...rything that happened to Craig, he contact the other lawyer, got all the facts together. Then he explained my options to me and how some of the things the lawyer said were going to cause an issue for this case. He was sure I clearly understood all of the options facing me. I was scared and handling this alone. He was always there when I needed to talk with someone, and this reassured me and reduced my anxiety, which was pretty high. His calm demeanor also helped keep me focused and steady. It was a long a protracted process but Craig was always prepared, organized and calm which made me feel I had someone who was looking out for me. When we finally had a hearing and he questioned the person who was creating this lawsuit, he very calmly, deliberately and with the ability of a master tactician he was able to ask questions and get responses from that person which completely contradicted much of what was said in the complaint. The judge was clearly aware of the assertions and certainly noticed through Craig's deliberate series of qestions the lack of complete truthfulness of the person. The case ended with the best possible outcome for me. If I ever needed an attorney again, which I hope I do not, I would certainly use Craig. I recommend him to anyone needing a great deal of help and support through trying times.
