My ex and I were to divorce, supposedly amicably, by mediation in what was to be a fast and painless experience. The judge, however, deemed the agreement unfair to me so denied it. In a fit of rage, my ex decided to sic a high cost lawyer on me, paid for by his wealthy parents, to "put me in my plac...e." I had never been in a position to need a lawyer for anything, so was frightened and despairing of what would happen, and how much money I'd have to put on my credit card. In fact, his lawyer called me and bullied me about the case, making me feel vulnerable and attacked - just like my ex husband did during our marriage. Luckily I did decide to get a lawyer and found Dan. He was extremely helpful, smart, and kind. The first time I spoke to him he even admitted that I could represent myself if I did enough research. I felt this was very honest of him to admit, but I am truly glad I did not choose that path because I needed support, and he provided it to me. I am now attending college so I can get myself back on my own two feet instead of being forced to work a job that would put me and my children in poverty.
