I cannot recommend Mark L. Medley highly enough for anyone in need of a family lawyer. When I was facing a complicated divorce and custody case, I was overwhelmed and worried about both the outcome and the potential costs. Mark completely exceeded my expectations on all fronts. What impressed me mos...t was his combination of professionalism and compassion. He took the time to thoroughly understand my situation and clearly explained all my options without using confusing legal jargon. Throughout the entire process, he was responsive to my questions and concerns, often responding to emails and calls the same day. Mark's expertise in family law was evident in how efficiently he handled my case. He anticipated potential issues before they arose and developed strategic solutions that ultimately led to a favorable outcome. His preparation for court was meticulous, and his presentation of my case was compelling and effective. Perhaps most surprisingly, the final cost was significantly lower than what I had anticipated for such comprehensive legal representation. Mark was transparent about fees from the beginning, and there were no unexpected charges. First time dealing a lawyer and Mr. Medley forever put a bad taste in my mouth for the legal profession. I approach Mr. Medley about my case to fight for standard visitation of my child because my ex lived in a different state. On the first visit he presented himself as a very knowledgeable professio...nal and assured me that I had a good case. Once the retainer money was handed over it all went down hill. Mr. Medley and his office failed to keep me inform about my case on multiple occasions. When you schedule a meeting with him @450/hr he always assures you things are ok but when they truly are not. Mr. Medley pushed for my case to go to court and did not even mentioned mediation as an option until I brought it up. I ended up settling on an agreement with my ex without mediation and no courtroom time. The retainer fee was 4500, after all was said and done and his office calculated the time used only a couple of hundred bucks was left from the retainer fee. And till this day i have not seen it. I contacted his office multiple time but they claim they are under construction and do not have access to my files. Please be warned this a VERY unprofessional lawfirm and and lawyer. I was better informed by my ex's laywer if that tells you something.

Mr. Medley sales pitched me to get the retainer and told me I had a great case and this "wasn't his first rodeo". He told me the initial meeting was free (another way to get me to pay) and then charged me for it when I fired him. He then didn't return calls or emails and his staff was rude and unpr...ofessional. Once he realized I didn't want to go to court and settle outside of court, he stopped caring and told me that my case was a lost cause and I should prepare to pay the maximum to my ex-spouse. He communicated with the other lawyer without my knowledge or consent on decisions that I should have been a part of and then told me that he communicated with me. When I fired him he took a week to get me the final bill so he could nickel and dime me. I filed a grievance with the Texas Bar but is was denied and the local San Antonio Bar office was of no help. Mr. Medley is an unethical, unprofessional and untrustworthy person.

Medley is currently working my case and I have to say he gets things done. Upon taking my case, it was in such disarray and very well underway (5 years of litigation underway). Right away he started cleaning things up, setting hearings and didn't mess around with opposing counsel who dragged their fe...et on everything. I think people need to understand, that their case is not the only case being worked on. When it mattered, Mark contacted me and kept me informed in a timely manner. The relationship works best when he's not being micro-managed which I understand so I do give him time to return calls and/or emails. We talk on a weekly basis and I also work well with his paralegal Lori. We talk over case strategy and he really makes me feel like we are a team. He does cost a pretty penny so if you don't have at least 10k to put down, you may want to look elsewhere. I will tell you that I'm very happy thus far. Mr. Medley took on my case after it was decenlty underway. He gave me much more confidence in my case than my previous attorney and started straightening out matters right away. Because of his experience, he is not easily shaken by attacks of the opposing party, which is very helpful. I would have ...liked to see more availability and more preparation before the custody trial as far as the witnesses went. My best friend wasn't even sure who was questioning her when she was put on the stand, so her testimony was very choppy and hindered (she thought she was being questioned by the opposing party and was hesitant with her information). I also feel that the asked for geo restriction (should the jury vote FOR a restriction) should have been more broad, but I am ultimately pleased and am still in contact with Mr. Medley. He is busy, so be prepared to assist in your own case where possible, but he does know what he's doing, so definitely would recommend.
