I’m not a lawyer, and Mr. Schleiffarth’s position was to make sure that I understood everything necessary for my case, and to be consistent with everything he tells me. From my dealings with Mr. Schleiffarth and JCS Law, their business tactics were that of a car dealer. They will make you feel com...fortable in your decision to go with them; they will talk about their awards and accolades they’ve received. Their real objective is getting the clients to write checks, as opposed to making sure that their clients have the best representation for their money. He charges clients a ridiculous amount of money when he has only been in practicing for close to 5 years? John Clayton Schleiffarth presented himself as one of the best attorneys in the St. Louis area, and charged me as much as that of a top-tier defense attorney. He’s not considered a “Super Attorney”, but felt deserving of that type of money when he doesn’t even though he doesn't have the experience or connections that others do. I asked about his trial experience, in which he stated to me that he's had so many trials under his belt that he could not give me a specific number? I did some research and found out that his firm is not a firm that actively handles trials. After my first meeting with him I figured that he had the connections and experience to get me an outcome that I would happy with. After signing with him things started to fall apart. He would show up at my pretrial appointments either hours late, or never at all, and someone from his office would have to run to the court building to fill in for him last minute. He would tell me he would speak to witnesses or subpoena evidence, which never happened. When he made a mistake he would try to avoid answering my calls or emailing me back. He told me one time he would immediately handle something important to my case, which he did not do until 8 months after his initial entering as my attorney. John's protégé is no better. He will advocate for John regardless of the circumstances, because it's in his interest to do so. Andrew only cares about the interest of John and the firm, regardless of what position it puts the clients in. John gave me incorrect information numerous times. Whenever John has taken some fault, it was never completely, and he always ended up deflecting the blame onto others as opposed to himself. I finally had enough of John and JCS LAW, and removed them from my case, and once I got new counsel I was able to receive the deal I wanted within a few months, and what was surprising was that it did not cost as much as what it when John Clayton Schleiffarth was my attorney on file. Not saying John is a bad person, but I think he’s more career driven, so he takes on as much clients as possible, which ultimately creates a lack of attention to the individual needs of the clients, and can cost them in the end. JCS Law puts a lot of money behind advertisement, because they encourages a high-volume of clients, rather then making sure they take on the right kind of cases? John is at best a $3,500 attorney. One thing I've learned is that if you are looking for an attorney, always talk with multiple lawyers. I suggest talk to attorneys that come highly recommended from multiple individuals, and always know how long they've been practicing in the area you need help with? My new attorney had the experience and connections to get the job done in less than two months; I was with JCS Law for almost two years and was only provided a deal during the end that I had initially told him would not be acceptable for me if they were to be my attorneys.
