Attorney Discipline History: 90-Day License Suspension for Professional Misconduct

In 2015, the Wisconsin Supreme Court suspended attorney Christopher S. Carson’s law license for 90 days after he admitted to eight counts of misconduct involving four separate clients. The misconduct included engaging in an improper sexual relationship with a current client in a criminal matter, p...urchasing alcohol for that client despite knowing her bail conditions prohibited alcohol use, and making misrepresentations during the disciplinary investigation. Additional misconduct involved failing to competently handle legal matters for other clients, including not researching or following the proper administrative appeal process in a prison visitation case, filing defective and frivolous habeas petitions in the wrong venue, and making multiple legal and procedural errors that resulted in court-ordered sanctions. The court also found misconduct in Carson’s handling of client fees in a divorce-related matter. He improperly deposited advanced fees into his business account, failed to provide required written notices, delayed addressing a refund request after representation ended, and sent an incorrect and ineffective fee accounting letter. Carson had prior discipline before this case, including a private reprimand in 2008 and a public reprimand in 2009. After reviewing the stipulation between Carson and the Office of Lawyer Regulation, the Wisconsin Supreme Court approved a 90-day suspension effective April 9, 2015.

Standard Ambulance Chaser

Wish I would have known Chris' ethical "challenges" before hiring him. Even for a lawyer, this guy is sub-par. And that's putting it kindly. When other lawyers frown on you, its very telling. He was totally unprepared for my court date. He fumbled and bumbled and struggled to remember details. Im... sure I would have done a better job relating the facts of the details myself. In addition it looked like he just rolled out of bed in his suit. Complete with sneakers. Absolute joke. It was embarassing both to hear and watch this "lawyer" ply his trade. Needless to say, things didn't turn out as I'd hoped. I immediately fired Chris after my court date and hired a competent lawyer. Highly NOT recommend. In addition, anyone looking to hire Chris should look up the laundry list of disciplinary actions against him. For someone that vaunts his morals his public record stands squarely against him.

Absolute worse

Do not hire Christopher. Tried to make me take a plea without going through discovery. Came unprepared to every hearing. Just took my money and I was the one who had to put in the work. He will be sued soon! DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT HIRE CARSON LAW! Absolute worse! He has a bad track record. Save yoursel...f and your money and do not hire Christopher Carson.

Terrible experience.

This attorney came to court late and ill-prepared. He was very inappropriate. He did an awful job representing me, and the hudge handed down a very lengthy sentence without reprieve, for a first-time, very minor, criminal offense. I DO NOT recommend. If you check up on him you will see he was suspe...nded from practicing not once, but TWICE. I don't know what he did to get suspended twice, but it's obviously something serious.

Total Waste Of Money

Chris knew that I was being railroaded by the “justice system”, and he also knew that my Nursing License was on the line should said charges stick and result in convictions. He made absolutely no effort to fight on my behalf, took my money though and then indicated that I really had no chance of winn...ing a trial and essentially forced me into a plea “deal” that any public defender could’ve done, and possibly even have done better!! Don’t waste your money and throw away your rights or your future! He’s not in the practice of ethical criminal defense, that’s for sure!
