Although we only had about a week until my next court date, Mr Drake familiarized himself with the specifics of my case and developed a strategy. He eased my stress level tremendously by being open about the possible outcomes. He fought ...hard to get me the best deal possible, and in the end he was able to get me a better deal than anticipated. He is very professional and personable, and well respected in the courtroom. I was facing a class E felony for theft over 10,000.00 dollars. I do believe I had the best lawyer for the task. Darren went beyond a typical lawyer and researched all the facts and evidence. Darren had the trial planned out early in the case and was ready to continue forward. This was not an ord...inary case since it was theft against a government entity. After many months of discussion and discovery about the evidence Darren was able to resolve the matter and I was not convicted of the charges.

I retained Darren less than 24 hours before having to appear in court. Within that time, he met with me and spent the better part of a day talking to me, explaining what he planned to do, how he planned to do it, and prepared me for what I could expect to happen. There was no way to know the outcome ...until it was decided by the judge, but regardless of the outcome I truly felt like Darren gave me best chances of winning. He knew how to ask questions to A) get the facts, and B) keep things flowing, which in my opinion also kept the judge and court officials happy. After it was all over, the judge ruled in my favor for more than we anticipated. We didn't get everything we asked for but I still considered it a victory. Our daughter is a recovering alcoholic who was determined to get her life back on track, had a few bad days, relapsed, wrecked her car, was arrested for her second DUI and ended up in jail. I bailed her out and she again tried to get her life back on track. She wanted a lawyer to represent her as she... was probably going to face jail time. I did not care to pay for a lawyer - again; but felt our daughter was sincere in her efforts to get her life back. So I checked online, read reviews on Darren Drake, liked what I read, and contacted him to discuss our daughter's situation and the possibility of soliciting his help. He would always return her calls as soon as he could, and was there for her before, during and after her court appearances. For those who have dealt with family members who are alcoholics and who need a second, third, etc. chance and need legal representation and some ideas on how best to get on with their life, then I would highly recommend working with Darren Drake. Although alcoholism cannot be cured, it can be controlled; but the alcoholic is the only one who can control control it. An addict/alcoholic committed to getting their life back on track is facing an uphill battle. Darren Drake can make the uphill battle a little less confrontational from a legal point of view. And in some cases, he can suggest alternative approaches (e.g. the county's DUI program - as in our daughter's case) to enhance one's road to recovery - but only if the addict/alcoholic is committed to a sober and much better life.
