Hiring this firm was one of the most disappointing and costly decisions I’ve ever made. My family scraped together $10,000 we really couldn’t afford to spend, because my freedom and my children’s custody were at stake.
While two attorneys on my family law case showed professionalism, the attorney ...assigned to my criminal case was unprofessional, disengaged, and showed little to no urgency in handling life-altering charges. When I voiced my concerns to the firm’s leadership, I was met with defensiveness instead of accountability.
I had no choice but to hire a new criminal defense attorney, who immediately provided the diligence and competence I should have received from this firm from day one. This confirmed what I already suspected… I was not being treated as a valued client, and my criminal case was being handled poorly by Aaron Delgado & Associates.
Then, without warning, I was told that I would also have to replace my family law attorney because of a so-called “conflict of interest” tied to my complaints about the criminal attorney, despite being told repeatedly that the two cases were separate. This forced my family into yet another unexpected financial crisis.
A prime example of this firm’s unprofessional handling of my case, and one of the clearest reasons I believe I am owed at least a partial refund, is the fact that they never even had me sign a retainer or fee agreement! In my understanding, these are the very first documents any competent attorney presents when taking on a client, both as a matter of professional ethics and to clearly define the scope of representation. Failing to complete this most basic, standard step made me question what other critical legal procedures or filings might have been overlooked… errors that, in my case, could have had life-altering consequences.
When I formally requested a refund in writing and detailed my concerns, the firm simply stopped responding.
In my opinion, this firm failed me on multiple levels: professionalism, ethics, and basic respect for a client’s trust. If your case or your family’s future is on the line, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere!
