This was such a good deal; my probation officer was so shock the judge would allow all of these exemptions. I had a simple but a tough case because of the county the incident took place, my line of profession and immigration status. I was scared, better say terrified. My immigration attorney recommended Jon and I set up an appointment immediately. After our first meeting I hired him. Before meeting with Jo...n I met with 3 attorneys and all of them told me the same thing: I had to plead guilty and hope that the prosecutor would agree to a plea bargain. But Jon was totally different; he was realistic but also had a strategy that was well thought out. We both had work ahead of us but it was much better than sitting around and hoping for the best. Jon believed in being extremely prepared and going to court as if we would be going for trial. When I asked him why do all this work; he said, if you go to settle it will more likely go to trial. But if you go to trial it will more likely settle. His initial fee was relatively hire than the other 3 attorneys however Jon works relentlessly. He always finds time to return calls, emails and if you call in advance meet with you in person. I recall the night before my court date (which was a Sunday) Jon was still editing,from home the letters that my immigration attorney delayed in delivering!! When we arrived to court on Monday we were ready more than any of the other people. The prosecutor was very tough and was not willing to compromise. Jon did not get discouraged with the prosecutors negative act, and he immediately approached to the supervising prosecutor. I was so scared that when I look back all the people are a blur except Jon. I remember him walking very quickly back and forth, strategizing the case, keeping me well informed and exploring every option possible. Finally Jon came back with a deal that I was not prepared at all. Looking back If it wouldn't have been for Jon I still don't think I would have accepted the prosecutor's offer. But Jon talked with me why it's beneficial not only for the case but for my employment status as well. So I accepted the offer and the outcome even though was difficult, for reasons I would not like to share, turned out to be the best. Thanks to Jon, my immigration status is in good standing so as my employment:) Jon if you are reading this, you know who I am. I am sure there were times (plenty) that I drove you crazy with endless questions, emails and worries. But you made me feel very important every time I reached out to you. Jon Katz is the best DWI / DUI lawyer in Maryland, Virginia and DC. His legal knowledge is unsurpassed. My case was a DUI / DWI in Frederick, MD. When we met for trial he told me "you own me today" since I was paying him to represent me. He was working on other cases while we were waiting my case to ...be called up. He was constantly in and out of the court restrategizing my case. When he detecting me getting nervous or distracted he talk about something or tell a joke to lighten me up. His team at his office every bit as good as he is. They always got back to me with answers and Jon does as well. He's very easy to communicate with. I ended up be aquitted of DWI / DUI and only got PBJ Driving Impaired / Alcohol which is a much less charge and unsupervised probation. Even after the case was done I needed needed an Emergency Motion sent to the judge for me to relocate for a new job. Jon was on it faster than I could say "Jon could you..". All in all you get what you pay for and his are reasonable.

I don't normally write reviews because they're a pain, but in this case I felt he deserved one. I acquired 6 felonies of distribution of cocaine in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Not only were they distribution of cocaine- but it was to an undercover officer, caught red-handed. If anyone knows VA, the...y are very harsh on drugs. I was facing a lot of time in jail, I knew I was screwed. I hired Katz based off of his awesome reviews all over the Internet. He knew what I had to do to get the least possible sentencing and I complied with all of his recommendations. Half of my charges were dropped because of a plea deal so we continued on with 3 felonies. Jon is always super busy but somehow still manages to always return calls and give you his time. He's always responsive and never leaves you hanging. After a long year of continuances and hard work, I was finally sentenced. All of us were for sure I'd do some jail time, even the PSI recommended me for a women's diversion center or women's detention center. Also, with the intensity of the charges, nobody thought I'd avoid jail time. Surprisingly, I was let off on probation and all my time was suspended! I worked my butt off to get the lowest possible sentence I could, as well as he. He knew exactly what needed to be done and we all walked away astounded. Not one day in jail with three felonies of distribution?! I don't think anyone can say that they've gotten that in Fairfax County, VA (Unless they're snitching of course) This case should go down in history! Katz is the man. On top of that, he's good at reducing the worries, he can be humorous to keep your mind at ease. That helped a lot to relax my nerves in court... He's just an all around amazing attorney. I wouldn't recommend anyone else.

Is this a review or a thank you letter?-it's both. As a professional being procecuted, however misguided by the Commonwealth, it was a terrifying, stressful ordeal. Initially, I retained another attorney for 2 weeks but never even met with him in his office or knew his email (long story). I subse...quently fired him and in desperation, 1 week before my trial, I set up a meeting with Mr. Katz due to his 10/10 Avvo rating and reviews like this one. I immediately hired him and what impressed me was within 48hrs he had compiled an extensive folder, talked to the procecutor, and sent me detailed emails of all the evidence he had seen-I learned more about my case in 2 days of Mr. Katz working than the other lawyers sitting on his butt for 2 weeks (the folder he retrieved from the other lawyers was sparse and showed almost no effort in defending my case!)! Mr. Katz expertly put together an incredible defense package, weaving his understanding of the law with a "Jedi-like" mastery of the social system that the Court system is. Mr Katz expected the best but prepared us for the worst-and we were ready to enter the Court with guns blazing (figuratively of course!) ;) Mr Katz *aggressively* worked the pretrial period resulting in the procecutor dropping the case, looking dejected as he called for a motion of dismissal. I had consultations with 4 other attorneys and no one else displayed the *passion*, insight, strategic depth, or tireless work ethic of Mr Katz. It's amazing that this horrible chapter is behind me, and I can't believe how some other lawyers suggested I might have to plead guilty, accept probation, or delay the case further. Mr. Katz was always interested in fighting the charges 110%, and I know he was almost as happy as I was when he congratulated me on the dismissal of my case and gave me words of wisdom and well wishes for the future.
