Best Criminal Defense Lawyer in Town -A true master He is

As many of you are doing right now, constantly looking through reviews on Avvo, Yelp, Google to find the best lawyer for whatever "mistake" you have made, I was in the same situation with DWI as well as serious felony charges that could have jeopardized my permanent residency even if the charges were... lowered to a lesser "misdemeanor". I had about 4 different free consultations with 4 different lawyers. Mr. Katz was the only lawyer that actually listened to my story and cared for me as a person, not just another client with a dollar sign. He is not that type of lawyer that gives false hope to comfort but rather he gives his genuine opinion and advice, coming from years of experiences. Long story short, felony charges were dropped completely! My outcome was much better than I dreamed of and I am so grateful that I found Mr. Katz to represent me for the case. Thanks to Mr. Katz, my permanent residency would not be affected AT ALL. As many of the reviewers have said, PLEASE LISTEN to what Mr.Katz suggests to you and DO all the "HOMEWORKS" he gives you. If you have any questions regarding your "homework" or anything related to your case, JUST ASK Mr. Katz and he will always be prompt and honest when providing the best advice for you. In the end, it will help your outcome of the case! For anyone looking for the best criminal defense lawyer in town, look no further and just hire him and do the homework!

A lawyer who believes in what he is doing

If you are charged with a crime in Virginia, you want a lawyer who understands the plight of the criminal defendant, and who believes that he is fighting on the side of justice. This devotion to criminal defense drives Jon to work as hard as I have ever seen anyone work. He truly loves his job, and t...his is especially evident in the courtroom, where his high energy and confidence have him stand out from other attorneys. I was charged with felony marijuana distribution in Virginia, which caused a great deal of anxiety. After talking to several lawyers I knew Jon would best serve my interests. We began discussing my arresting incident, and since he has been defending marijuana cases for over 25 years, I learned that there were several defenses we had (none of which involved snitching). Up until my trial date, we had several conversations about my case and went over all of the evidence as thoroughly as possible, as well as documented homework assignments to help with negotiations. Jon had my case fully prepared for trial, which eventually led to a plea deal with the conditions that I was hoping for. Throughout the whole process we shared funny stories which helped put me at ease, and totally shattered my preconceived notions about lawyers. Not only did Jon get me the result I wanted, he also made sure that the probation office treated me fairly and gave me as much freedom as possible. If you are charged with a crime, you do not want a lawyer who used to be a prosecutor, you want a lawyer who has spent his entire career battling prosecutors with a sense of purpose.

He will get you the best possible outcome

I hired Jon Katz to defend me on a class 1 misdemeanor case. I was caught on a sting operation and the evidence was stacked against me. So, a possible outcome would have been a conviction which would have ruined my relationships, reputation and employment. When I talked to Jon the first time for a fr...ee consultation, he listened to me, explained the law and what the possible outcome would be. He explained that an out-right dismissal may not be possible due to the evidence against me but a plea deal for a different unrelated charge, which does not have the negative stigma associated with the original charge, may be possible. But he also mentioned that he is ready to fight for me to get the best result, but asked me to do some homework such as voluntary community service to strengthen my case. He was very compassionate and mentioned that the crime I was being accused of should not be deemed a crime and is not a crime in many parts of the world. Needless to say, I was very impressed and hired him on the spot. Jon kept in touch throughout the period before my case date and inquired about the progress I made on the homework. Before the case date, Jon talked with me about my case and informed me about what to expect given the judge and prosecutor assigned on that day. On the case date, Jon was not able to get the prosecutor to budge on a plea and proceeded to go to trial. However, the witnessing officer already left the courtroom at this point. The case was continued at the request of the prosecutor. On the next case date, Jon used the fact that he already wanted to go to trial on the first date, to convince the prosecutor to make a deal. In the end Jon was able to negotiate a great plea deal for me with an amened charge and no active jail sentence. I looked up similar plea deals from other cases and found that most of them carried some active jail term. Moreover, the original charge can now be expunged to clear my name from it. In the end, it was a painful ordeal, but Jon helped me to overcome it. I am very grateful for his help to regain my footing after I lost it.

A true mastermind

I hired Jon based on Research and reviews which were all great. Sometimes he can be tough on but trust me just do his homework and you will not get much results with any other lawyer in the DMV area. He is truly a very hardworking man who genuinely cares and will do his absolute best to get the be...st results. He's a life saver ! If you get in trouble in DMV, stop searching and give this guy a call, you won't regret it. Thanks jon!!

Great Attorney and great guy

Hire him if you want a savvy lawyer who is willing to fight to the end for you. Someone who is up front and works hard to get you the best outcome possible. Jon made a horrible process easier to handle. I came to him with a DWI charge and he instantly made me feel like he was ready to fight for me. H...e is not only concerned with winning your case, he genuinely cares about you. In the beginning he went to court and got me off probation for the time period before my trial. When it looked like all hope was lost he negotiated a plea deal which kept me from serving jail time. He fought for me all the way. Arlington county is one of the toughest counties for DUI/DWI cases and somehow he managed a plea deal. He is great at what he does and I highly recommend him. If you need someone to be by your side from day one and to fight for you he is your guy. He won't make promises he can't keep. The one promise he will make is that he is here for you. My family and I were devastated when I made the mistake of getting a DWI but upon meeting him he eased our fears and the day in court we all were able to breathe a sigh of relief thanks to him. He is a great guy and an even better lawyer. Do yourself a favor and hire him!
