Truly Amazing!

Not much of a review poster, but John really deserve all the praise. I have been meaning to do this for a while. John will try every avenue possible for the best possible outcome. I was caught with marijuana possession and looked certain to do the standard narcotics classes and community service. ...Thanks to a deep understanding of the legal system. John was able to have all charges dropped and no classes for 6 months or whatever it is. He will fight for you all the way!

Unbelievable

I don't normally write reviews because they're a pain, but in this case I felt he deserved one. I acquired 6 felonies of distribution of cocaine in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Not only were they distribution of cocaine- but it was to an undercover officer, caught red-handed. If anyone knows VA, the...y are very harsh on drugs. I was facing a lot of time in jail, I knew I was screwed. I hired Katz based off of his awesome reviews all over the Internet. He knew what I had to do to get the least possible sentencing and I complied with all of his recommendations. Half of my charges were dropped because of a plea deal so we continued on with 3 felonies. Jon is always super busy but somehow still manages to always return calls and give you his time. He's always responsive and never leaves you hanging. After a long year of continuances and hard work, I was finally sentenced. All of us were for sure I'd do some jail time, even the PSI recommended me for a women's diversion center or women's detention center. Also, with the intensity of the charges, nobody thought I'd avoid jail time. Surprisingly, I was let off on probation and all my time was suspended! I worked my butt off to get the lowest possible sentence I could, as well as he. He knew exactly what needed to be done and we all walked away astounded. Not one day in jail with three felonies of distribution?! I don't think anyone can say that they've gotten that in Fairfax County, VA (Unless they're snitching of course) This case should go down in history! Katz is the man. On top of that, he's good at reducing the worries, he can be humorous to keep your mind at ease. That helped a lot to relax my nerves in court... He's just an all around amazing attorney. I wouldn't recommend anyone else.

I didn't see his cape, but he must be a super hero!

When I first met Jon, I wasn't sure what to make of him exactly. I could tell he was intelligent and quick on his feet, but I was too overwhelmed by all the scenarios he laid down. Then I emailed him asking why he did what he did. He sent me a link to his blog that explained why, and I was sold. ...When we began our process, he seemed to be making every possible movement to hinder the prosecution, so that by the time we went to trial, I was looking at a first time offenders program. I really felt like Jon was taking care of me. When we went to trial for possession of marijuana, I noticed all the other representation in the court room were just sitting there with their clients, waiting for their cases. Jon was talking with the prosecutor, informing me what was happening and what my options were, rewriting the prosecution's offer, going back to prosecution with it, coming back to me...Jon, as far as I can see, is a Jedi master in the legal justice system

Jon Katz made dealing with the worst thing thats ever happend to me manageable.

If you are looking for a detail oriented amazing lawyer then look no further. Jon Katz successfully defended me from a felony cannabis charge which would have had me in jail for 5 years. He literally went over every detail with a fine tooth comb until he found the flaw in the prosecutions case. Wh...ich took running all over interviewing the 20 some officers involved in my arrest as well as lab employees who had processed evidence. He eventually bargained a deal which dropped the charge down to a misdemeanor, kept me out of prison and from losing my job. If relentless is what you need then Jon Katz is definitely your lawyer.

Smart, Intuitive, and Compassionate

I first found out about Jon Katz through a google search for lawyers near Maryland. I came across his website, checked out his blog, and looked at his AVVO reviews. I was a bit skeptical that it seemed like everyone in here was giving him an extremely high rating. I made an appointment with him, felt... comfortable and decided to hire him for my possession of marijuana charge. I have major depression and generalized anxiety disorders and was using marijuana for self medication. I had always thought that the medical marijuana defense legislation from 2003 was only for people with certain conditions but Jon made it clear that persuing a sentence for my mood disorders was possible; something that i feel that other lawyers wouldn't be willing to do. There were times where i questioned doing this because i was afraid that the outcome wouldn't be pretty, but Jon kept my spirit up and gave me the confidence that it could be done. He can be tough at times, and he will have you doing everything that you can possibly do to prepare for court, but trust me you want to do everything you can possibly do to show the judge that you have remorse for your actions, and that you are taking the situation seriously. Jon responded to my e-mails, he has a very good assistant that is patient and willing to help, and i was able to schedule a meeting with him everytime i tried within a week of when i called. He is very personable and understanding but at the same time will let you know if you are doing something wrong for your own good (kind of a tough love). The day of my court date he negotiated hard with the prosecuter, kept me calm, discussed my options with me, and we ended up getting what i wanted which was the medical marijuana sentence. He was indeed "calm in the eye of the storm" and articulated my situation to the judge in a very intelligent and intuitive manner. After court he notified of a new legislation that is waiting to be signed that allows medical marijuana patients in maryland who provide sufficient proof that their use was medically neccessary to be found not guilty. He expressed a possibility that this could apply to me if the ammenment was retroactive somehow so i am going to research and try to figure out if it could apply to my case (the previous legislation from 2003 allowed me to get the charge on my record and the new one says i am not guilty). If i do figure something out and am going to try to get it corrected I am going to contact Jon Katz to represent me again. Thanks Jon,
