My first impression of Mr Katz in our initial consultation was that he was an ass but someone you want on your side. I thought his fee was a bit extravagant but he promptly refunded most of it when my case got dismissed before trial. Our meeting was a bit contentious but I can tell this guy is a bull...dog. Jon is a honest upstanding guy who doesn't sugarcoat. He put in writing that he will dedicate himself fully to your case if you choose to hire him. Honestly he is a bit of a jerk but I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

Jon got a good result on a DUI/refusal to blow trial involving a collision -- after examining the arresting officer, the prosecutor accepted our offer of pleading down to reckless and refusal. This is apparently very rare in DUIs involving a collision. The prosecutors are generally unwilling to give... such a deal in such cases. I attribute this result to Jon's talent and preparation. Jon was generally responsive to emails and calls within a day, and his staff are on point. His demeanor and experience calmed me and inspired confidence in his abilities, and I speak on this point as a fellow lawyer. His courtroom demeanor set him apart from other attorneys. I probably saw four other attorneys argue DUIs on my court date, and Jon made each of them seem amateurish and unprepared. I was convicted of a DWI after retaining the services of a local attorney (not Katz) near the area where I was charged. This lawyer was horrible, and did not work with any effort on my case for me to have an adequate and fair defense. So now my only options were to accept this conviction that would t...arnish my professional record and limit my career opportunities or appeal this conviction. I am glad I chose the latter option, and looked for a lawyer that would give me my best chance of reducing this conviction. I knew this was an uphill battle because I heard the appeals judge was even tougher on DWI charges. I searched the internet for the best lawyer in the DC area, and came across this website. But I remember the prosecution was shocked, and very caught off guard that this just happened so quickly. Overall, I am glad I found Katz, and got the best results I could ask for given my situation.
