Anyone with any kind of case Jon covers...HIRE HIM! This guy is knowledgeable, a master in the courtroom, intelligent and tolerant (I have a mother who is very difficult to deal with) and he even dealt with her, sometimes better than I do! My drug possession case, which I was concerned with for over... a year, ended in a Nolle Prosequi (no prosecute), and only because I listened to Jon's preparatory advice before the trial and when in the first trial before my continuance, Jon advised me to reject the prosecution's bum offer when they weren't prepared. Which gave me more time to prepare a better case! I would have had a record if I had accepted the offer that may have affected my future educational opportunities, and thanks to Jon, that is no longer a problem. He is brilliant in the courtroom, fears NO PROSECUTOR, and will fight for you to the very end for the best verdict possible. I am a person with anxiety and depression issues, and his humor and drive helped me to feel much more relaxed in and out of the courtroom. Furthermore, he will be completely honest with you about your situation and the possibilities, even if they aren't pleasant. And to be frank, there are lots of lawyers out there charging far more for less quality work. I also had a DUI case and as expensive as she was, the service was crap. Jon Katz respresented me in a criminal charge resulting from a pending divorce. The complainant orchestrated a vicious campaign of revenge not only by filing a criminal complaint, but also with family members, my employment and elsewhere. During the course of the case, the complainant inflated the ci...rcumstances and lied to the prosecutor. Jon was unrelenting in his approach, and thorough in his preparation. I am convinced that Jon's work on my behalf was first and foremost focused on my best interests and also, moreover, on a fair and even handed conclusion regarding justice. Jon worked tirelessly, communicated effectively with the court, prosecutor, and me, and was prepared and responsive as the case matured. Jon devised a clear strategy and because of his efforts the court agreed to a reasonable and fair outcome for what had been the most taxing and embarassing event in my life. I have worked with a number of attorney's in my career and few would have cared as much, or expended the energy that Jon did. I highly recommend Jon, he is a bit uncoventional, and that trait makes him more effective than many other defense attorney's. If you are in need of a defense attorney, you want someone who will fight to win. Second place or a good try just doesn't cut it when your rights are on the line. In July 2009 I was charged with 2nd degree assault and false imprisonment. I was facing a harsh outcome that would ruin my career and life. Thanks to Mr Katz's help I can relax again. He was able to have the judge drop the false imprisonment and lower the assault to a much lesser charge with 1 year o...f unsupervised probation and no jail time! The victim wanted an outrageous amount of restitution payments and Mr. Katz helped me get away paying a fraction (fair amount) of what the victim wanted. Jon, Thank you for the excellent effort on my behalf. Though we were not successful against the lies of the illiterate county deputy and deceitful commonwealth attorney in defending the refusal, which is near impossible in VA; you were quite successful with the more serious charge of the DUI being de...termined as NOT GUILTY. In addition, if you had not been representing me, I am convinced that the commonwealth attorney's attempt to have me charged with a Felony, based on false testimony of the sheriff's deputy to the Grand Jury, may have been successful if left up to the local good old boys and girls of the county. But thanks to your awareness of the attempt and representation the indictment mysteriously changed from indicted to not indicted without explanation from the county officials. I don't imagine the potential for a law suit for Malicious Prosecution had anything to do with their decision not to pursue the false allegations. In my opinion, though a serious issue warranting laws that protect the public at large, the law in Virginia has gone too far regarding DUI. It appears that a person is now guilty until proven innocent in the Old Dominion and is subject to whatever abuse of authority an officer and commonwealth attorney want to levy against an accused. The cop is not even required to articulate what he is reading to a person in a manner that a person can make an informed decision. My impression is that the only reason that King George County deputy is in his job is because there was no opening for which he could qualify in collecting trash. You made it obvious why the Deputy Commonwealth Attorney works for the county; she couldn't do the job well enough to be successful in private practice. She was successful only due to luck and corruption in the local system that is perceived or well known in the county. I appreciate your honoring your advertised word in providing me quality representation at a cost affordable in consideration of the market. Compared to what it could have cost me, you were very fairly priced. I hope not to need such services again, but if I am so unfortunate as to need an attorney I will not hesitate to call you again for the job! May God continue to bless you, your family, and staff.
