Look no further

Mr. Katz is very capable and a great choice in any legal battle. From the beginning, you know exactly what tactics will be used at court. Do his homework, that will set above the others in the eyes of the prosecutor. He is knowledgeable of all judges and prosecutors and knows how to talk to them. He ...replies immediately to all calls and emails. I had two drug charges at once: one misdemeanor and one felony, he fought so the felony charges were not brought in the first place not the first charge later dismissed, saving my reputation!

Thank you for taking the time to comment. It was a true pleasure representing you. Yes, my suggested action plan for clients (in drug cases including community service and entering a drug program) can make a significant difference in case negotiations. When I talk with prosecutors, I see them not as opponents but as people I can persuade and with whom I can identify mutually overlapping interests. Negotiating from a position of trial readiness helps achieve better negotiation results, and leaves us always battle ready if a trial becomes the best path.

Excellent Lawyer

John Katz is a very good lawyer, he is aggressive and real go-getter when it counts. I was charged with possession of marijuana and even admitted that it was mine to the cop when I was charged and Katz was still able to get the case dismissed with absolutely no community service time. He was able to ...give me good advice on how to prepare for court, which ultimately ended up being very helpful, and kept be updated on what was happening all throughout the process .

Thanks for posting your insights. Actual and potential criminal suspects should not talk with police; however, many do. Few criminal cases involve my not working with this and/or other significant obstacles. Nonetheless, in pursuing victory, we work to minimize and even neutralize the obstacles and to stay on the path of obtaining as much success as possible. As you saw with your case, this obstacle did not prevent obtaining the dismissal of your case.

Lifesaver

I hired Jon after getting arrested for a second DWI within five years and possession of marijuana. When I thought there would be no way out of this impossible situation, Jon's knowledge of the law and persistence saved my life. He was able to get my possession charge dropped and second DWI dropped to... a first with all jail time suspended! He was able to give me the peace of mind that I was desperately looking for. Hopefully I'll never get in trouble again, but if I do, I know who to call.

Thanks for posting about your case, and for refusing to throw in the towel in the face of the unpleasant outcome that would have resulted if convicted on the original charges. That persistence paid off with your case outcome. All the best to you. Jon

Marijuana Case

I was looking for a lawyer who won't just show up to court and have me interviewed for the 251 program. That is not something I wanted to do since the 251 program won't allow you to expunge the possession of marijuana case. Found Jon Katz through a friend who told me he's the best in the business. Pr...ice is a little hefty, but worth every penny. You want the best chance of winning your case? 1. Do the homework he gives you. 2. Let him do his job. The man is unparalleled in his field. He's also has a great sense of humor and can teach you a lesson or two about life. Hire him!

Thanks for your kind words. You honored me by giving me the opportunity to beat the 251 option. Marijuana needs to be legalized throughout the land. Until then, each pot prosecution must be fully defended.

A lawyer who believes in what he is doing

If you are charged with a crime in Virginia, you want a lawyer who understands the plight of the criminal defendant, and who believes that he is fighting on the side of justice. This devotion to criminal defense drives Jon to work as hard as I have ever seen anyone work. He truly loves his job, and t...his is especially evident in the courtroom, where his high energy and confidence have him stand out from other attorneys. I was charged with felony marijuana distribution in Virginia, which caused a great deal of anxiety. After talking to several lawyers I knew Jon would best serve my interests. We began discussing my arresting incident, and since he has been defending marijuana cases for over 25 years, I learned that there were several defenses we had (none of which involved snitching). Up until my trial date, we had several conversations about my case and went over all of the evidence as thoroughly as possible, as well as documented homework assignments to help with negotiations. Jon had my case fully prepared for trial, which eventually led to a plea deal with the conditions that I was hoping for. Throughout the whole process we shared funny stories which helped put me at ease, and totally shattered my preconceived notions about lawyers. Not only did Jon get me the result I wanted, he also made sure that the probation office treated me fairly and gave me as much freedom as possible. If you are charged with a crime, you do not want a lawyer who used to be a prosecutor, you want a lawyer who has spent his entire career battling prosecutors with a sense of purpose.
