Dealt with multiple felonies and misdemeanors

I contacted Mr. Rosenthall after my daughter was charged with multiple drug felonies and misdemeanors after they were found in her car, though not all were my daughter's. She also was charged with another felony as well. I left a message and he immediately responded on a Sunday and walked us throu...gh the process that would be unfolding over the next several months. He was calm, took his time with us and communicated clearly to both myself and my teenage daughter. We hired Mr. Rosenthall and he counseled us through multiple court visits, the changes happening in the courts with the new election, various prosecutors, and explained our options at each step. In the end, my daughter had 1 felony and misdemeanor dismissed and the others will be dismissed after successfully completing two programs. I cannot be more thankful for the guidance and skill he provided and for providing my daughter with the opportunity to move forward in life with a new slate but one based on the knowledge and responsibility of her actions. I would highly recommend Mr. Rosenthall to anyone faced with the his areas of specialization.

worst first experience

My lawyer was negligent when it came to my case. I was forced to take a plea I really didn’t want to take. I was informed multiple times that I wouldn’t be going to jail at all, and I ended up getting sentenced to 3 months. It was my first offense, I’m full time in college and had a full time job. Mr.... Rosenthall charged me $7,500. I’ve never hired a lawyer before, but he told me this was a normal amount. The prosecutor offered me and my 2 co-defendants (whom had priors and public defenders) the same plea, without looking at any evidence. They offered 4 months jail time or 2 felony convictions. Mr. Rosenthall STRONGLY advised me not to take either of those. I informed my lawyer I did not want jail time or any felonies. My lawyer had the evidence for 2 months, and despite my many requests, he never allowed me to view the footage or any evidence he had in his possession. He told me repeatedly that I was safe, I had nothing to worry about, I wasn’t going to jail, he would get me off completely. I figured for that amount of money he charged me, I should have a successful outcome. 2 months later we went to court again, and he told me this was the last court date, we’d get no more continuances, I’d have to make a decision today. He stated that they changed the prosecutor at the last minute, and it was someone brand new who knew nothing of my case. He then told me they were offering 3 months jail time, or the felonies. I asked him what did he think I should do, if I should take it to trial. My lawyer told me, it’s up to me, whatever I decide, but we wouldn’t win at trial so I need to take the 3 months. I didn’t understand how for $7,500 my lawyer only negotiated a 1 month difference plea, than what was originally offered with a public defender. I asked if he could negotiate probation, restitution, house arrest, anything other than jail time. My lawyer said I’d have to take the felonies if I didn’t want to go to jail, he said the jail time wouldn’t be that bad, I’d be out in no time. Only had to do 6 weeks. I was afraid of getting a worse conviction or a higher jail sentence as mr. Rosenthall told me I would get if I didn’t take the plea, so I took the plea. I strongly believe my lawyer did not fight for me to the best of his ability as she should have, I trusted him 100%. As a result, I lost my job, my home due to not being able to afford my rent and I have to drop out of college until I’m able to afford it. I used my financial aid money in order to pay him, I went to jail and lost everything. My 3 co defendants deals they received were probation, another got a 2 month jail sentence, and the 3rd one got community service with no jail time, all with public defenders. I got sentenced to 3 months on just one misdemeanor petty larceny with a $7,500 lawyer. I fired my public defender in hopes of a better outcome, and I wish I kept him. I received a warrant during court, and he stated he was going to come down with me to the magistre, Mr. Rosenthall never showed up, nor was able to bond me out or contact my family to post my bond. I feel like I was just a simple transaction to Mr. Rosenthall. He rarely answered my phone calls, and didn’t provide me with any of my case information. Long story short, please hire at your own risk. I got the same plea for $7500 that could’ve been gotten with a public defender. There was no fight or concern for my case.

Ms. Lyons, There appears to be a significant misunderstanding about what happened in your case and what options were available to you. Please feel free to contact me at your convenience. As you are aware, you were facing several felony charges related to multiple incidents. The plea deal I negotiated allowed you to avoid becoming a convicted felon in that all felony charges were dismissed or reduced. My office is, and always has been, open to you anytime Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (without appointment) to view the security footage, police reports and witness statements from every store involved in your cases. At that time, i will also be happy to show you the record from the cases of the other individuals charged and demonstrate that you clearly received a far better outcome than the others. The only person facing charges as extensive as yours pled to multiple felonies. The others were only implicated in a fraction of the charges you were facing. I’m sincerely disappointed the six weeks was so disruptive to your life. Jail is by definition a jarring and awful outcome that I seek to find every possible way to avoid for all of my clients. When someone hires me I fully understand that they are trusting me with their freedom, future and health and I in no way ever trivialize that responsibility. I would absolutely never minimize my efforts or do anything to allow any of my clients to suffer unnecessarily. Anytime I advise a client to take a plea deal that will result in jail time it is only after every possible other option has been exhausted and when the plea deal presents the best possible opportunity for the client moving forward based upon the evidence in the case. Please let me know if Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday is not convenient for you and I will happily schedule an appointment outside those hours to review the files.

Extremely Professional

I first contacted Mr. Rosenthall around 7:30pm one evening and to my surprise his receptionist answered. She took my information and immediately transferred my call directly to him. We discussed my case and possible outcomes. He asked what my concerns were and thoroughly explained every detail of the... process. He was extremely helpful and sympathetic. He spoke with the prosecuting attorney many times to get me the best possible outcome. I am extremely pleased with his service and highly recommended him for representation.

Excellent Defense with Best Results

Faraji Rosenthal is a thorough, intelligent and compassionate attorney who helped get my daughters drug possession charges dismissed. I first contacted Mr. Rosenthal at 6:30AM after leaving the hospital where my adult daughter was recovering from an overnight drug overdose and was being charged ...with drug possession. Since it was so early in the day I sent him an email and he contacted me back 15 minutes later. I was in a daze, panicked for my child's health and fearful of a first time drug charge. All of this was new to me. I had no experience dealing with police let alone a felony charge. Mr. Rosenthal was calm, patient, compassionate and detailed in explaining step by step what was going to happen after my child got out of the hospital and had to turn herself over to authorities. He spent a lot of time on the phone with us that weekend ( he was out of town on a prior commitment) as my daughter was in jail. His experience as a former district attorney helped him explain the Courts point of view. As my daughters attorney he managed to get her released without posting bail. This was a huge help. The first of many positive results in our interaction with him. We are former residents of Fairfax but have moved 9 hours away. My daughters arrest came when we were back visiting Fairfax. Mr. Rosenthal was mindful of our travel restrictions and our interactions were long distance, mainly by text and email. When we had phone calls his confident, calm and respectful demeanor always left us feeling better about the case. At the same time, he never made promises of outcome and was patient in answering our repeated questions and concerns. Because of unusual circumstances our case lingered for over 2 years. While our daughter was his client, we paid his fee. Mr. Rosenthal always kept us in the loop, with her permission, and was respectful of her wishes, despite her often combative attitude due to mental health issues. He was so patient with her, listened to her and helped her understand in detail her choices and the ramifications of each choice. When her case was continued after a year, he quickly corrected the Probation Office from extending her probation ( which the judge had not ordered) saving her from more expense, travel and time on probation. As a result of his professional and thorough representation her felony charge was dismissed. Every interaction with Mr. Rosenthal was a positive one. If you need a thorough, professional, kind, patient and winning attorney don't look any further. Faraji Rosenthal is the best.

I couldn't thank him enough!!

I was beyond satisfied with Mr. Rosenthall's service. My boyfriend was his client, facing 17 felonies for charges of credit card fraud with possible jail time and I am so proud to say that I've hired one of the best lawyers from Virginia to take on this case! Every single court date he fought for my ...boyfriends freedom. It is so amazing when someone just loves to do their job. Mr. Rosenthall did not get our hopes up nor did he steer us in the wrong direction, he told us the pros and cons of every worst case scenario and he did just as promised, WHICH WAS HIS BEST!! My boyfriend was held without bail and Mr. Rosenthall made great effort to get a bond hearing the following day AFTER I hired him. Throughout this process, my boyfriend ended up getting arrested at one of the court dates for what seemed to be an misunderstanding and Mr. Rosenthall made it his job to be there for my boyfriend the following day, even though he did not have to because this is a new case which means more money but he WILLINGLY wanted to help and even offered a fee that I couldn't beat to have him help my boyfriend out of this situation. My boyfriend got out the following day thanks to Mr. Rosenthall and I did not have to pay a cent! My boyfriends case resulted in 1 felony and 1 misdeamonor with absolutely NO jail time. I am extremely happy that I found Mr. Rosenthall. He helped my boyfriend get out of a situation that could've turned out to be way worst than it did. I would recommended him to ANY ONE whose freedom is on the line. This man loves what he does! He's one of the BEST in Virginia!!!!!
