My family and I have worked with many attorneys, but Jennifer is by far the most professional, knowledgeable, personable and thorough attorney we have ever encounter. She is the best in her area of expertise. To have her representing us in an extremely exemplary manner was refreshing! We call Jenni...fer the 'quiet storm.' Jennifer gets the job done all with a smile. She's phenomenal!

Good Lawyer

Earlier this spring, I utilized Ms. Anukem's office. I was surprised by the outcome, in my favor, regarding the new child support. I would definitely use again. She thinks about her clients from their money perspective.

Very Strategic Attorney

I had 2 previous lawyers who did not keep me in the loop or let me know what was going on in my case. Most importantly, they did not let me have input on the direction of my case. My Anukem and her firm kept me up to speed on the case and let me know that I was in the drivers seat. We put our heads t...ogether and made some good decisions that helped me end up with custody of my two boys. I am so glad I hired her firm.

She is unreliable after first payed consulting

I never got free consulting. She asked me to pay the whole lawyer fee before the prenup review and consulting. The first consulting is fare, although she gave comments by hand-writing, so it took me extra time to read it and edit by myself. Since then she is not easy to get, she do not response to my... email for more than two days, and after I send email again and I called (she never picked up the phone, her assistant always said she is not available now, but she never called back), she finally reply my email. However her email do not answer my question, seems like she didn't read my email at all. Her email left me confused so that I have to send email again. And it's another round of waiting for more than a week, calling never got feed back.

I apologize for our role in your misunderstanding of the scope of the retainer. Perhaps the language barrier played a role in you not understanding the terms of representation. You paid a flat fee for the review of your prenuptial agreement. The prenuptial agreement was reviewed and you were provided with a consultation, by telephone, where the provisions of the prenuptial agreement were explained to you. Thereafter you asked that the postnuptial be revised and that the attorney contact opposing counsel to renegotiate the prenuptial agreement. The attorney and staff advised that your retainer did not include said additional services. As a good faith gesture, the attorney sent you her notes memorializing the comments discussed during your 1 hour consultation call. Again, we apologize for the misunderstanding and encourage you to review the scope of your retainer as outlined in the email sent to you on November 28, 2018. On November 28, 2018 you asked: Thanks for the quick response, does the $750 include everything? On November 28, 2018 I responded and said: The $750 includes everything -- the review and consultation. We were not retained to negotiate the agreement and redraft same. Again, I apologize for any misunderstanding, but when you were asked to pay for the additional services you were seeking, you expressed that you did not wish to do so.

Unprofessional

This firm took my case and did minimal work to then quit the case in the middle of litigation placing the outcome of my case at risk. J. Anukem & Associates then placed a judgment on the case they quit and took me to court for the balance of legal fees before the case was resolved. I believe these ac...tions were retaliatory for me reporting their activities to the Maryland Bar Association. As such I would not be willing to recommend this firm to anyone seeking legal counsel.

Thanks for expressing your concern. Unfortunately, in your case, the retainer agreement signed stated specific payment terms which were not complied with. Your complaint filed with the Maryland State Bar was dismissed and thereafter, we asked that you pay the outstanding balance owed on your case. When you failed to do so, we were left with no choice but to pursue this matter in court where we were awarded a judgement for the entire outstanding balance of your legal fees. It is important that clients keep their word and comply with the retainer agreement signed at the beginning of representation because the attorneys at our firm always strive to meet the highest standards to provide excellent legal representation. That is the reason we have received several awards and accolades from the National Association of Family Law Attorneys, SuperLawyers and other reputable organizations. We are happy to provide representation to clients who we can trust to comply with the terms of their retainer agreement because our clients can certainly trust us to provide excellent legal representation once we accept their case.
