Todd Zimmer, Esq., Commack (Family Law Attorney) Personal review as a former client and as professional that holds a ABA Paralegal Degree. I am speaking to the facts of my experience while omitting most personal details of my case hoping to save others from the same mental anguish and financial distr...ess I endured as his client. 1) Uses a very ambiguous retainer agreement where you must give a credit card for future monthly billing (sounds convenient, except when the retainer is depleted within a month and the monthly automatic billing becomes impossible to decipher as it is NOT a predetermined amount per month as he described to me at the consultation-it is a fluctuating percentage) 2) Never filed a Pendente Lite Application for 2 MONTHS (this should have been done day 1 as I was the ideal candidate for it, leaving me exposed) 3) Called me in for a “meeting” just to input each number line of my net worth statement into his computer (this is a legal secretaries duty) DRAINING my retainer as this took over an hour! 4) Left the room during one of our meetings to take a phone call about his dog (did not deduct time from my bill for his absence) 5) Opened and signed mail unrelated to my case during one of our meetings (did not deduct time from my bill for his interference) 6) When I was unhappy with some of the work done he told me “It is not malpractice as long as the work was done, even if it was done incorrectly” 7) 3 Months into my case, he called me the night before a scheduled court conference telling me that my bill was now over 10k and that I must pay that evening causing me extreme duress during a high conflict divorce 8) Gives you a phone number to “text him” yet never personally answers it or gives advice, but definitely knows how to bill you for the messages he receives 9) His associate filed a weak Pendente Lite Application (confirmed by other attorneys) 10) At the preliminary court conference, REFUSED to make the judge aware that the So-Ordered Court Order for Pendente Lite was not being followed by the father and there was contempt 11) Told me “he couldn’t bring a contempt motion on a temporary order”-a lie that was refuted by many other attorneys 12) Sent his associate “Stephanie” to an emergency court conference we requested for Pendente Lite, where she did not bring the contempt issue to the court, but rather reversed my custody order instead-completely negating the purpose of the emergency conference!

I would highly recommend Todd and Hunter. Both were extremely supportive lawyers. They walked me through the whole divorce and fought to get me the best deal possible. They were organized and communicative. I am very grateful to have had them fighting for me. I don’t know if the process would have b...een completed so well without them. Thank you so much!
