Would not recommend

When I approached the Spodek law firm to take over my family court cases, I specifically asked about his availability to make sure that my cases would be given the necessary attention and effort. He did a good job convincing me that he would. During the very first court appearance, however, Spodek sh...owed up completely unprepared and had to request an adjournment to another date. Furthermore, he revealed for the first time to me as a client and to the court, that he had three active criminal cases that he had to attend to, and those cases took priority over mine. The level of dysfunction was so egregious that it left everyone in the room aghast and the opposing side even requested the court to instruct me to pay for their attorney fees because they had to show up to court unnecessarily. Furthermore, Spodek revealed that he had not managed to obtain the necessary case files from my prior attorney. Time was squandered while I was operating under the impression that his law firm was actively preparing for the trial. When it became clear that he would not be able to actually handle my cases, I had to switch to another attorney. The bills that Spodek sent were outrageous. He had decided to keep the majority of the retainer when no substantive work had been done. He was basically billing for the change of attorneys. And some of the invoiced items were clearly not actually performed as it was later revealed. This law firm’s level of incompetence and deceit is exceeded only by its greed.

A Mensch

My parents recently moved to Florida and had received a letter from Human Resources Administration regarding benefits they received when they were residing in Brooklyn, NY. There was an issue with some of the information that my parents put on their application/recertification's and some real estate... holdings and rental income that they had at that time. My parents received the letter and almost had a heart attack, we immediately researched Medicaid fraud lawyers in Florida and was recommended to Spodek Law in NY as this was a NY case. We had a consultation over the phone and immediately felt at ease with Todd. He charges a flat fee and answered all of our questions regardless how inconsequential they were. My parents nor I ever had the opportunity to meet with Todd in person but he is honest, straight forward and took care of my parents. He's a nice guy and a mensch and I am happy that I was put in touch with him.

Extorted By An Escort

I had a one night stand with a young lady I met at the Bowery hotel. Later that night the young lady tried to extort money from me. It turns out she was an escort and expected to get paid for her services! I refused and kicked her out of my room the next say I get a call from a Detective that I need ...to come to the precinct for an interview. I am freaked out, I did nothing wrong! I called a buddy of mine who got caught drunk driving with some coke and asked him to hook me up with his lawyer. I reached out to Todd and he was very reassuring. He told me that it's highly likely I was getting arrested and if so, should surrender. Long story short, I wounds up meeting the detective that am and being released that night around 11. Todd was there the whole time and took care of everything. I as prepared to go to trial and we had a solid case. People who saw us earlier that evening, bar receipts. Todd wound up getting the case dismissed 30/30 (speedy trial).

Uniterested and Too Busy

After putting down a $5,000 retainer all interest in my case was lost. I repeatedly called and sent emails to discuss my case. After weeks I was told that they know about my case and when they have some time they will make an appointment for me. They did not communicate and worse, were very ill prepa...red in court to the point of embarrassing. After eventually firing Todd Spodek's firm and retaining a new attorney, I had to go after Spodek's firm to get the balance of the retainer back that he owned me. Additionally, he never provided me with any invoices over a 9 month period, this is a violation of NYS law! Don't waste your time here, they just want your money and are not interested in you.

Criminal Defense Lawyer---Recommendation!

Great lawyer. Extremely trustworthy and responsive. Got me out of a hole I thought I would never get out of. I consulted with 3 other lawyers in NYC before choosing to go with Todd Spodek. He truly stood out in his experience and honesty. I'd definitely recommend him to friends and family.
