I felt based on our meeting and calls that Tanya was dedicated and trustworthy. She was no-nonsense and overall the kind of person I wanted as my lawyer: aggressive but not offensive. I just wish she had followed through a little better in the very end. Throughout my case, Tanya was the person wor...king with me. I was surprised when Tracy--whom I had never met--showed up to the final court date, and embarrassed that she had to ask opposing counsel for a copy of paperwork and to verify facts. I felt that compared to Tanya's professionalism, Tracy was a disappointment, and I would have preferred that a junior associate work with me throughout the process than to not even recognize my attorney when she arrived at court! Tanya also charged nearly double what she had quoted for my maximum expected budget. Had she told me up front what the total would be, I would have had no problem; I just didn't like that surprise. I would recommend Helfand & Associates only if you accept that you may pay significantly more than expected, and suggest you specify whether or not you would prefer Tanya herself representing you. She is certainly the kind of person I wanted helping me, and her dedication and professionalism are unrivaled.
