Terrible

Unimaginably awful. On two occasions, the judge had to intervene to provide me with guidance, since I got no guidance from the Micklin Law Group, and the judge admonished my counsel for not representing and advising me properly. Super disorganized, incredibly expensive, and incompetent. Not respected... by other divorce attorneys--and for good reason. Do yourself a favor, and find a better law firm.

Horrible Experience

I would not recommend the Micklin Law group for a divorce or any other services. Their error resulted in my simple divorce case to get dismissed and I had to pay to get it reinstated - that right there is enough to look elsewhere. My experience was nothing short of horrendous. There was no guid...ance on the divorce process so if your are looking for a professional that can apply their years of experience and guide you through the process starting in the very beginning than look elsewhere because the Micklin law group will provide piece by piece so it requires you to reach out to them more which cost every time you do so. My ex had no lawyer and the Micklin law group had no back and forth communications with anyone but me. The divorce was uncontested and I with no help or guidance from the Micklin law group formulated an offer and worked it out with my ex The 'Micklin law group made 2 errors with my simple divorce the first being they sent my ex an incomplete document that she signed and returned that resulted me having the money get her to sign another one. They blamed the error on a software issue but wouldn't you think a professional service you hired for their expertise of writing and preparing documents have a process in place to review and catch such errors? Not the Micklin law group. The second error they made resulted in my case being dismissed. Again they submitted the papers for default with the wrong date which they then submitted an amendment to only withdraw the amendment to only let the case get dismissed. The Micklin law group accepted no responsibility in this major error and instead blamed the courts, COVID and even tried to say I should have caught their error.WOW Well I ended up paying roughly 3,500 or more to get my case reinstated because of an error made by the professional's I hired. I have never heard of customers or clients paying for additional costs incurred due to errors and mistakes by the professionals they hire. Mr Micklin's only offer was that I could get another lawyer if I wasn't happy. Yes I could have done that which I would have probably lost the 3500 retainer meaning I would be walking away from the Micklin law group after already investing over 10,000 dollars and then hire another attorney to start over again. Trust me if money was no issue I would have fired the Micklin law group after the first mistake or before but divorce is a very expensive endeavor and most people going through a divorce don't have thousands of dollars to just throw away. I basically paid 5,000 dollars for a bad 20 dollar oil change. So if you are looking for someone who will provide guidance and who backs there work and who accepts responsibility for their errors then look elsewhere and not with the Micklin law group.

I am sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the representation The Micklin Law Group provided to you. Nobody is more disappointed than me to hear when a client is not satisfied with my firm. You and I discussed your matter and your concerns numerous times throughout our representation of you, and we were able to conclude your divorce with the relief you were seeking, despite the difficulties and complexities that your former spouse and the COVID-19 pandemic added to your case. The dismissal of your case, though brief, was unfortunate, but was due to a misunderstanding with the Court. As you are aware, this issue was rectified quickly, and the presiding Judge agreed that the dismissal occurred in error and reinstated your pleading without the need for motion practice, as is generally required without a showing of an error by the Court. I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Abusive billing practices

Stay away from this firm. The billing was overly aggressive, constantly inaccurate and I had to fight every few months to remove excessive amounts. The managing partners wife would call me hours after sending my bill and asking when it would be paid and their billing staff would call my cell repeat...edly, just days after issuing an invoice. I was egregiously overcharged and they overwhelmingly lost every single hearing and decision. This was the worst experience in my lifetime and received no value for the tens of thousands of dollars they charged. They seemed like competent attorneys but the abusive billing practices, overcharging and aggressive collection tactics are simply reprehensible. I am exploring a malpractice action based on the work they did and what they charged. Stay away

PERFORMED ZERO WORK STOLE RETAINER REFUSED TO PROVIDE RECEIPTS

I contacted this firm in an effort to navigate the stressful process of negotiating a child support and coparenting plan. Through my first interaction with his office staff they seemed steadfast in taking care of me by saying things like "dont worry" and "you're in good hands now" but this quickly ch...anged after I paid them. Brad Micklins wife Carmen is also his secretary and the main person to answer phone calls. I called her a week after paying them their retainer fee of $2500 to get a status report as it was a time sensitive matter and to ask why I am being charged an additional $300 when they haven't done anything on my case after a week of being paid their retainer already. Carmen screamed at me in response and hung up on me instead of simply explaining what the extra charge was about. Mind you this is the same person who was a sweet understanding calm and sensitive person right before I paid her. I instantly called back and demanded my money back since no work has been performed in a week on a time sensitive matter and I was being charged more money without any work being done after paying the retainer and I was screamed at and hung up on for simply asking for an explanation. I imagine Brad Micklin was embarrassed by the way in which his wife handled the phone call and he picked up the phone when I called back and he told me that I would receive my refund in full but it could only be by check even though I paid with a credit card he said he couldnt refund my card and would have to send a check in the mail that could take 2 weeks. I immediately said that I can come pick the check up and he refused citing covid although they answer the office phone lines and Damaris Muniz who is an administrator for the firm admitted they both work in different offices so I'm sure they are available to let me have my check but they insist on making it difficult. After constant phone calls missing work to try to contact them I received an email saying the refund was made in full to my card and I'll receive it in a week. Now all of the sudden it was possible to do a refund on a credit card. I called and asked for a receipt for the refund and was screamed at and hung up on again by Carmen the wife of Brad Micklin and they continue to refuse to provide me with any receipt or proof that they are going to give me my money back and they blocked my phone so I cant reach them by phone. This is all within 3 days after I called them to ask for a status update after a week on the case and no movement made and I saw that they charged me hundreds more dollars without doing any work. Meanwhile I went to them in the first place for help to coparent my child and this is more than a disservice and a setback. I would never call this attorney. Run far away from this attorney. They have a good niche selling to men to fight for their rights but they are more trouble than its worth and I believe after this experience that it is a ruse to get money from hurting family men. As far as I'm concerned they are evil lying thieves.

This individual was not a good fit for our firm. We therefore refunded the entire balance of his retainer. We do wish him the best as he finds new counsel.
