I had never been in a situation like this ever in my life, so when it came time to chose a lawyer I was completely lost..
I talked to a few other lawyers before Alex. As soon as I got a hold of him, my instincts were clear: He was the one that I wanted to help me navigate out of the most stressful... situation of my life. I noticed that he was young, but speaking to him only reaffirmed my instinct and convinced me that his age meant vigor and passion that would end up being a great asset to my case.
He was extremely passionate, enthusiastic, human, introspective, and didn't speak in legal jargon I couldn't understand. He made it clear that the path would be long and was honest about the the toll it could take on me.
Compared to the other lawyers I spoke with, Alex was the only one who didn't treat me like a prospective client statistic. He took the time to listen and understand me as a person. He treated me with respect, expressed empathy for me and related to me as a fellow professional. He spoke passionately about why and how he wanted to help and exuded confidence in that he could. This all made a significant impression, especially when compared with the "quick size-up" treatment of other attorneys, and my decision became clear.
The case was indeed long and complicated like I had anticipated, but Alex worked directly with me to chose the best strategy from which to approach it and conferred with me at each turn. He was knowledgeable about which legal precedents or motions could help, walked me through the process of obtaining statements and character references to make our case, and displayed wisdom and insight throughout his conversations with the prosecutor, the strategies he employed, and the progress he made.
In the end, the case ended exactly as I had hoped and I have Alex to thank for that! In the home stretch, when offered a dissatisfying plea, I explained to Alex why that could not be the outcome and what I need to have happen in order to maintain the life I had built. Despite the fact that he was on vacation that week, he took the time out to call the prosecutor and re-examined every facet of my case with him.
In the end, Alex did exactly what I had faith all along he would do.. he used the "human element" that he embodies and passionately argued the facts of the case to persuade the prosecutor that every person deserves a second chance.
He was able to negotiate the exact plea deal I needed to happen. I have Alex to thank for saving me from what could have been a life debilitating punishment and instead getting me the outcome I deserved and needed.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart Alex!
