Found out she had just completed a whole dissertation on Reinstatement of Suspended Driver's License. Back in 1999 I lost my driving privilege in the State of California due to a Suspended License. It was originally suspended because I was sent back to court for not being able to complete my DUI classes. I missed a class then was late to another and back then - you were automatically not allowed to continue and sent back to the Court. I messed up even further by missing that Court date. Subsequently a warrant was issued for my arrest. Living without a Driver's license and driving around was doable as long as you didn't get pulled over. I was constantly on the lookout for the "POPO"(Police). I had to obtain a State ID for identification purposes. I honestly was afraid the Court System would incarcerate me and I would spend a little time locked up. I became very tired of looking over my shoulder all the time and was over being a "fugitive". So I bailed and left California to go back to my home State of Hawaii. Driving around without a license as well. Fast forward to the present. Attorney Julia Simmons did everything that was needed to clear the HOLD on my Driver's license in California (which also was blocked in State of Hawaii). She and her staff were very professional and delivered exactly what they said they would. I now have a VALID HAWAII STATE DRIVERS LICENSE after all these years. I was very stupid and got a 2nd DUI within 6 months of my first DUI conviction. On top of it I wrecked my car and almost killed myself - let alone hurt or kill someone else. I was lucky. But going up against the District Attorney and a system designed to punish, I was not going to leave anything t...o luck. Simply put - I was looking at up to 1 year in jail and losing more than I really want to think about. I needed a VERY GOOD attorney. I got lucky again when I found Julia. I hired Julia to fight a DUI case that I had and it was incredibly nerve wrecking to go through it all and not have any idea what to do or how to go about handling it. I was calling around for lawyers and had no experience because I never ever needed a DMV lawyer in my life, because simply, I don’t break the law. However, no matter how minor my case was, I felt like it was in my best interest to have representation since you never know who you get at DMV hearings o...r what mood they’re in. After calling numerous lawyers in the OC for a week, I got tired of the ones that were just after the money. One lawyer just told me to come into his office and pay $100 so he can consult me if I even needed a lawyer or not. Another lawyer basically said my case was so simple that he didn’t have time to take it. A few other lawyers just said they have never heard of anything like my case but they *think* they can help me. Most of them didn’t want to talk on the phone for long, and the ones that I emailed kept their responses short because they’d rather work on actual cases that involved DUI’s and cost over $10k. I started to worry that even if a lawyer did take my case, they wouldn’t pay attention to it. Either way, Julia was one of the last lawyers I found and called. She called me back right away and I explained my situation. To my surprise she talked to me for over 30 minutes on the phone about my case. I got more helpful information from her than all the other 10+ lawyers that I called. In addition, she knows the people at the DMV soooooo well that she explained to me clearly what I needed to do and who I needed to talk to, and what information I needed to find out about my case. I started to feel like I didn’t need a lawyer after I talked to her. I called her back later because I still had questions, and she found out I was nearby. I was really surprised by how much effort she put into hearing me out and “comforting” me because I had never been in this situation before. It was precisely because she was so helpful, that I decided to hire her because she made me feel safer. I felt that someone was on my side watching out for me. It was money well spent. Worth several months not shopping or going out!! Her office is also full of competent people! Naly is her paralegal and she also watches out for you and keeps tabs on your case. There was an issue where a someone made a mistake, but Naly caught it right away and saved me so much time. It was because of her that my case didn’t drag on forever until the Earth exploded into a Supernova and our Universe got sucked into a super massive black hole and all life on Earth and in our tiny Universe ended as we know it. I know you’re probably wondering, “Is this true? Sounds too good to be true!” To be honest, that’s what I thought too. But it’s not. I think it’s because Julia just really wants to help people. She’s young, she’s smart, she’s like you and me, she's relatable, she understands what we’re going through and just happens to have spent years learning about the law to know how to protect us. Julia is also very charismatic and adaptable, she can size people up right away and knows how to handle them. This is truly an asset for a lawyer, because that’s what they have to do all day long. And in many cases, the result of a case is dependent upon how much talent in this area a lawyer has, and Julia is truly gifted here. You know how sometimes there are really aggressive or easy going lawyers? There’s a time and place for everything and if miscalculated you can really piss off the wrong person. I felt completely safe that Julia would be able to read the situation clearly and know how to act, and how to advise me to act. TL;DR: If you need a lawyer, hire Julia or you may regret it. And the DMV is not something you want to take chances on. Really.
