Eviction assistance, with compassion

I faced a difficult situation with tenants who refused to leave after legal notices were sent. After months of working to resolve the situation, it was apparent legal assistance was required to evict. This attorney was initially recommended by the Oregon State Bar. He worked with compassion for th...e tenants as requested, and excellent knowledge of the laws and procedures required. As a result, the case was resolved timely. Questions were answered with patience. Billing was clear, and was reasonable cost compared to others. No hidden charges or surprises. Highly recommend.

Tricked from the very beginning…

Tricked from the very beginning… Lewis was referred to me by the cities free legal aid as a low cost option for landlord tenant representation issues. I told him my situation including the things I thought they could render me unable to collect relocation assistance here in Portland. He saw it as a ...virtual slamdunk and gave me a ballpark figure of somewhere between seven and $9000 owed to me but he didn’t work on spec. So we agreed that he would refer me to a lawyer who did for a $35 referral fee which I paid promptly after a conversation ended. I met him at his and his partners office a couple weeks later to discover that he wanted to take the case on himself as the man he asked apparently he wasn’t interested although at the time he said the guy was his mentor and encouraged him to take the case himself. So anyways it turns out now I have two lawyers who both need to be on retainer and nothing will get done until I make that first thousand dollar payment. I spent about $3000 until finally being advised to except a offer of $2000 and just cut my losses due to a text message I had sent the landlord the month prior saying that if I was not allowed to move back into my original room that we had signed our lease for I would have to put in my 30 days because this is it working for me in the dining room! Well apparently that text in fact might be seen as notice on my part despite the fact that a couple days into the month the subtenant serve me with a 30 day no cause evection notice. Obviously he wasn’t taking it seriously! The worst part about it is that the lawyer doesn’t admit to me having told him this was my number one concern coming into this whole legal battle… That text message! But I’ve been painted it as having left that part out as if somehow that to my advantage, makes very little sense. The $2000 settlement which just puts me $1000 in the hole for the law firm has taken the maximum amount of time possible to come in. I’m curious if I can at this point still reject their offer and do what I wanted originally and that’s collect relocation assistance? Maybe I’ll ask right now.
