Horrible office!!!

I am amazed with these 5 star reviews as BINH BUI never returned even one call. I was pushed off to random paralegals or assistants! I asked will I ever speak to the attorney I hired? I sent all of my legal documents as asked from one assistant and signed off on the retainer. It was crickets .., ... I called repeatedly to inquire about my case in which the landlord refused to return my security deposit and will I ever speak to the attorney ? In fact when I called to inquire about status his VERY RUDE paralegal chastised me for calling once again about status and said “ good luck trying to find another attorney to take your case” I promptly ended this relationship and would NEVER work with this attorney or his equally rude team!

Hi Marianna, from what I recall, we were getting ready to file your lawsuit when you became impatient with us. To be fair to you, we were behind 2 months on filing lawsuits, but your case had no urgency and would have been 14-20 months until it settled. I do apologize for my assistant, that text was not in line with our usual office etiquette.

Dragged along since September 2020, only to have my case suddenly dropped June 2021!

I originally called this law office back in September 2020, regarding complete mistreatment from a landlord who I was renting out a bedroom from. Long story short, with all the actions that the landlord took against me and all of my evidence, MULTIPLE people from this office told me my case was worth... something. (Mr. Bui himself. Brad and Ilya). He told me from the beginning that if my case wasn’t worth anything, they wouldn’t take it on… But they did… January, Ilya called me to tell me that the case should be wrapping up soon, that they are just waiting on a fair settlement from the insurance company… Months later I didn’t hear from anyone, so in April I had reached out to ask what was going on… They told me they had reached out to the insurance company again and was going to give them another month to respond. Then I received A text from Ilya telling me they’re going to file a lawsuit to spur a settlement discussion. And that Reese, I’m guessing an assistant, was going to reach out to me to confirm information. I heard from Reese twice, and then I texted Ilya again to get a timeline of what was going on… He called me Friday, May 28And told me that he would be happy to explain what filing a lawsuit to spur a settlement discussion means and the timeline we were looking at, but that he was stepping out of the office early for memorial day… Then all of a sudden June 1, I see an email that they have all of a sudden decided to terminate my case! Saying “After carefully reviewing the evidence which you have provided us, to date, we do not believe there are sufficient damages which would warrant our involvement in a limited or unlimited civil case. We believe that you have not passed the threshold for a full civil case, however your case may be great for a small claims court.” From the beginning, they told me my case was worth something! And that they would not have taken it on if they saw it otherwise! He also told me that if the insurance company was going to lowball ($10,000 and under) that we would have to take the long route to court! I believe it was either Mr. Bui, or Bradd, that I spoke with back near the end of September 2020, and they even told me that I could take this to small claims if I wanted, but that they could get me MORE! And then, despite everything after all of these months, despite telling me my cases absolutely worth their representation, worth fighting the insurance company and going to court if they don’t want to offer a fair amount, They all of a sudden cut my case!!!! This is extreme negligence and misleading someone for MONTHS, who is already a victim of a horrible situation, and now making me a victim TWICE! Now I frantically have to search for another law firm that will take this case, and I have to START OVER! Putting together again hundreds of photos, videos and screenshots of my evidence! Telling the whole story once AGAIN to another law office! And worst of all, I’m going to school out of country April 2022, and if we didn’t have to go the full court lawsuit route, I was hoping to settle the case THIS year to finally just get it done and over with and have it behind me! But now I have to start over and there’s no way it’ll get done in 5 months or less! This hit me like a cement truck! Absolutely blindsided me. Astounding and shocked that after all of these months, That they were just suddenly dropped my case, despite CONSTANTLY telling me that my case was worth some thing and that they would continue to fight the insurance company if they lowballed! I have all of the voicemails and all of the text messages between me and everyone at this law office, prove everything they told me, which is contradicting to what they are telling me now! I see their typical response to any negative reviews is “we don’t see you have a case with us”, but please, don’t let that fool you! Please take the reviews for what they are! Don’t let this office waste MONTHS of your time, only to drop you!!

From my notes, it seems you never got back to us when we tried to contact you through various channels, and finally contacted us after 4 months, so we decided to drop your case. Communication is important and we did not want long delays happening once a lawsuit is filed.

My Experience

This matter was regarding an obvious retalitory eviction . I submitted copious amounts of paper evidence that were very much in my favor , and yet , the assistant delayed and asked if I had anything new to submit . FOUR WEEKS I waited to only be turned down by this assistant . I was corresponding ...with Mr. Bui all the while , I believe he was out of the country . Draw your own conclusions . I would not recommend Mr. Bui based on my experience.

You did not submit much evidence and when we asked for more, we waited until you responded. When told that your evidence was too weak to sue beyond $10k, you didn't agree. Retaliation is very hard to prove and you couldn't prove it beyond the $10k range, so it was more appropriate to sue in small claims court where you get to keep all the money instead of us charging you.

I'm sorry you feel this way. You are still a current client as of the time you are writing this so a refund is not applicable yet. From my understanding and you also admitted that you did not follow directions. You were supposed to call the clerk every 3 days to ensure you did not miss the trial date. You admitted you did not call for 2 weeks and did not send me a trial notice that was in the mail. I did not have a chance to defend you. I had worked on your case many hours. I offered a partial refund if there was nothing we could do, such as sue or reopen your case. We then did not hear back from you until this complaint. We are still willing to move forward with your case if you would return our calls.
