Attorney George Kita was a Godsend. I write this almost two years later after hiring him for a case I knew would end my career and life as I knew it. I was facing losing my son possibly (as we were being pinned against each other by my first lawyer), losing my professional license I had worked so inc...redibly hard for (half a decade to obtain), and losing my entire livelihood / career if my charge would’ve stayed on my record. As I would’ve never been allowed to practice in the state of California (or any other state) ever again. I was facing a very serious charge (that was lessened immediately just from the circumstances of the case) for an over disciplinary situation with my son. It was a very stressful time as I was also going through years worth of covert narcissistic abuse in my marriage. This event with my son— was the culmination of the final attack to destroy my character, integrity, my son and I and the great relationship we always had —via worsening purposeful abuse, infidelity, & harassment and personal attacks from my husband and his family. Including the extremely difficult and complicated criminal cases and clients he’s defended and helped along the way for many decades. I had unfortunately hired a 1st lawyer whom I wrongly entrusted with my life— who tried to take me down a dark path in my defense that I was not ok with which was part of a bigger plan for more financial gain. To pin my son and I against one another, inflict more damage and pain, and put me through an unnecessary expensive trial for the next 2-3 years. While my license remained in limbo. Being this was my first ever criminal offense ( I don’t even have a ticket on my record) I felt lost and betrayed for being so naive. I was also in a very vulnerable place as I had been unable to talk or live with my son for almost 8 months. My first lawyer’s ill advice for me not to take any proactive action whatsoever— should’ve been the first red flag. He advised me not to enroll/ partake in any parenting classes or individual therapy. Or do any type of voluntary work, coursework for my license, or footwork to notify the BRN of what had happened. Basically told me to do nothing until the court asked me to, or it would prove and solidify my guilt. George immediately got to work in our very first conversation and told me that this entire approach was completely wrong and neglectful. He spoke to me for over an hour that 1st time giving me powerful, yet kind and stearn advice (focusing on me & a new plan w/ the possibility of a mitigation route, which I was clueless about) At that point, my gut and heart knew immediately, I was finally being guided down the right path by an honest caring man and lawyer. He advised I do everything in my power to get enrolled into individual therapy, multiple volunteer parenting programs, or anything else that would show the court and the Board that I was remorseful over my actions - and that I was doing everything possible to show them my full accountability as a responsible adult and trusted professional. He recommended me to therapy/counseling with people he had worked with previously, on other court cases with favorable outcomes. Although I could not afford it at the time, he was able to negotiate a court approved psych evaluation for my mitigation packet that provided more vital testimony for my case. He fought for me every step of the way w/ great communication and compassion & was able to negotiate through multiple serious tough talks with DA (in/out of court) for an 18 month diversion w/ eventual complete dismissal of my case to maintain a clean record.
