Be extremely cautious if you decide to retain Keith Pickard. While my case began reasonably well, the quality of his representation declined sharply after a change in his paralegal. He frequently lost track of details, misrepresented facts, filed unnecessary motions, and overcharged. He would requ...est that I send excessive amounts of evidence much of which he knew would not be used with the effect of overwhelming the other party but at a significant cost to me. This appeared intentionally designed to drive up my legal bills, even aligning with the amount of a loan I had disclosed for attorney’s fees. When I questioned billing or sought to negotiate, he made unprofessional remarks such as claiming I was “paying for his car,” asking “how can you do this to me”, and warning that if I did not pay, the judge might question my credibility, award the other party money, and that even requesting a discount had “damaged our attorney–client relationship.” He also initially told me that our judge reassignment was a “great choice” for our case because he was friends with the judge outside the courtroom, and that he was not too worried because he had assisted in appointing the judge to that position. Those statements were deeply troubling and unprofessional. At trial, he stated incorrect facts that harmed my case, and I ultimately terminated him. Once fired, he became defensive and retaliatory, serving me with an attorney lien the day before my next trial and another judgment on the very day of the following trial. This timing felt harassing rather than coincidental. He also falsely claimed that I had stopped making payments, omitting the fact that payments were still ongoing. Rather than negotiating with me after I had already paid him over $100,000 in fees —he went straight to filing a lawsuit. His double standards were clear: he was dismissive when pursuing attorney’s fees on my behalf (even after they were awarded in my favor), but if fees were owed to him, he pursued every possible avenue aggressively. A judgment of over $40,000 in attorney’s fees that had been granted in my favor was later dismissed due to his lack of credibility and inconsistencies, ultimately becoming a disservice. Most concerning, he released client records and privileged email communications, violating attorney–client privilege. Combined with his remarks about political and personal connections to judges, this raised serious ethical and professional concerns. While he may appear supportive at first, his priorities quickly shift if questioned. Based on my experience, I would not recommend hiring him or subjecting yourself to his dismissive and corrupt practices.
