Do yourself a favor, hire someone else..

I won't go into too much detail about my case, but after hiring Tad last year to defend me on what he himself described as a "simple case" I now know that I was taken advantage of. He was so friendly and quick to respond in the beginning. However, once he has your money, he will pretty much leave you... in the dark worrying and wondering about what is happening. The end result of my case was just okay and it was dismissed. But in the beginning I was told that I should not have been arrested in the first place and he would fight to get the case thrown out. I explained that I didn't want there to be a record for me to have to try to expunge later and Tad seemed to suggest that he could do that under the circumstances. It was all basically telling me what I wanted to hear just to get my money. I had a friend that was arrested at the same time as I was with the same charge. Frightened and nervous I unfortunately contacted Tad and it was a costly mistake. My friend ended up not hiring a lawyer and his case was dismissed by just showing up in court with a public defender for which he paid nothing. So, the end result of both our cases was that same except I paid $4000 to Tad Nelson for basically just showing up in court for me and not really fighting at all to get my case thrown out like he had said he would do. As another reviewer as mentioned on this website, Tad's customer service is terrible and trying to get him or his office to call or respond to you is very difficult. I might have given him more stars if he had been more forthcoming in the beginning with me about what the results would likely be and if he had at least communicated with me to keep me up to date about my case. It's horrible to pay someone and be left guessing about what is happening and also feel like you are bothering him when you do finally get a quick text back (if you're lucky). If I could go back in time, I would not have hired a lawyer at all, and I most certainly would stay away from Tad Nelson. He's not as great as his website would suggest and my experience with him was awful! To add insult to injury, I received a letter from his office months after my case was over telling me he'd be happy to explain the expungement process to me and work to get my record cleared(for an additional fee of course). NO THANKS! I'd sooner hire a different lawyer for that or leave it on my record than give Tad Nelson any more of my money...

Worst Lawyer in the World

VERY disappointed in Tad Nelson. A laundry list of reasons, too many to mention all of them here; however, he was arrogant, unprofessional, disrespectful, and insulting to name a few. We put up with it, falsely believing that it might just be worth it, IF he turned out to be as good as HE said he w...as, but even that turned out not to be the case. He seemed to have no desire or possibly just lacked the talent to come up with any sort of defense. With many conversations, it felt as if we were talking to a prosecutor, not a defense lawyer. He was always taking the OTHER SIDE in all of our conversations which is NOT why we hired him. And since he (smartly) requires that you pay the full amount up front there’s nothing left to get another lawyer once you realize you have made a big mistake. If it had not been for another lawyer who joined his firm and started helping on our case, I don't know where we would have ended up. At least this other lawyer was able to salvage something for us, and we have moved on with our lives. But do yourself a favor and skip over this attorney when you are getting ready to hire. You will be so glad you did. I hope this review will spare some other family the pain and frustration we experienced throughout the entire process.

Yes this was a very unfortunate case that we handled at the office. This negative review was written by a disgruntled mother that never really excepted that her 30 something son had committed a sex crime against a child. Despite the negative review I did manage to get the case reduced to something that wasn't a sex crime and I am proud to say that because of my efforts my client never had to register as a sex offender. That alone was worth the fee that was paid by the client and his family. With all that said added to this ridiculous negative review it must be said that it is impossible to get along with all your clients no matter how hard you try. You can bend over backwards and try to accommodate all their whims yet when the rubber hits the road it's your fault that they committed a crime and it's your fault that they were ultimately convicted. The crazy thing is that after the original charge the client was charged again with a second charge in another county...I was hired for that too! I do wish my former client the best and I wish there was a price to pay for writing negative vindictive anonymous reviews!
