I was terminated from a company after only one month of employment. I strongly believed that my termination was based on something other than job performance. I talked with some friends who work in the same field who had similar circumstances in the past. They encouraged me to seek out an attorney.... I went through five different law offices none of whom would even call back. The sixth law office I spoke to I was greeted by Vanessa. This was the Verde Law Firm. I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Joshua Verde and his firm. I contacted this office seeking legal assistance regarding serious employment and civil rights concerns, and I expected to be treated with professionalism, respect, and fairness. Unfortunately, my experience left me fee...ling dismissed and unheard. During my communication with the firm, I attempted to explain my situation, but I felt that I was interrupted, not given a fair opportunity to share my concerns, and treated in a manner that I found disrespectful and unprofessional. I also had concerns about how my personal safety and privacy concerns were handled when I explained that I was uncomfortable providing certain personal information immediately, especially as a pregnant woman. The way I was spoken to and the decision to abruptly end communication left me deeply concerned about whether I was being treated with the same level of patience and respect that every potential client deserves. As a Black American seeking legal assistance, this interaction caused me to question whether implicit bias played a role in how my concerns were handled. I am concerned about whether individuals from different backgrounds receive the same level of attention, understanding, and advocacy when seeking representation. I believe attorneys have an obligation to communicate professionally, listen objectively, and treat all potential clients with dignity regardless of race, background, or circumstances. I have preserved documentation regarding my experience, including recorded communications where applicable, and I have submitted concerns through the appropriate channels for review. I encourage anyone seeking representation to carefully consider their experience during the consultation process and ensure they feel respected, heard, and valued.
