Best DUI Lawyer in the Chicago Area

I highly recommend O'Meara Law to anyone looking for legal representation. From the moment he picked up my call to the end of my trial, he was beyond empathetic, intentional, and strategic in his approach to getting me the best possible outcome. I thought I had a clear cut case against me and was ...ready to settle on less than ideal charges for an unwarranted arrest, but Mike O'Meara went out of his way to provide thoughtful legal guidance and tackle the trial head on. It took a while for me to see his vision, but I placed my trust in him and went through with the process and ended up being so happy I did. After nearly a year of waiting through extended court dates, we decided to take my case to trial. The result: all of my charges were completely DISMISSED. I was floored by Mike's attention to detail in preparation and his ability to litigate circles around the other attorneys. What felt like a lost cause turned into a complete win and every possible aspect of my case being respectfully shut down or utilized to the favor of my defense. With this being the first time I had ever been charged through the court of law, I was fascinated by the process and felt safe with Mike's guidance. He was the only lawyer to answer when I needed one in the middle of the night during my arrest and supportive until the end of the trial. I was not only able to keep my license, but have all charges, classes, court fees and traffic infractions cleared. The legal fees were extremely reasonable with all the time and energy he put into the work. I wouldn't consider another option for myself, and if a friend or family member ever needed services for a DUI or related charges, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to O'Meara Law, too. 5 stars and a 10/10 experience.

O'Meara Law LLC Client

“Michael O’Meara is the best! I retained him to defend a family member for a Domestic Assault and Battery charge. Notwithstanding overwhelming video tape evidence against my family member, Michael represented her magnificently. His tireless, compassionate, committed, skilled and singularly foc...used efforts to achieve the best possible outcome despite crushing negative evidence, resulted in a significantly reduced sentence that far exceeded my best expectations! Michael is completely frank about your case. He’s up front about cost and presents clients who are typically unfamiliar with, and intimidated by, the criminal court process with scenarios of possible outcomes (and reasonable costs for his services). I give my strongest recommendation for this forthright, aggressive and effective defender!”

Fantastic attorney!!

Mike O'Meara is our family's hero. Our son was from out of state and got himself in serious legal trouble in Chicago. I had never been to Chicago and was clueless about how to proceed. I called Mike based on other reviews I had read. He talked me off the ledge and walked our family through the legal ...process. He was able to obtain the best possible outcome for our son and was worth every darned penny. Mike literally helped my son get a second chance at life. I cannot thank him enough. Our family highly recommends Mike O'Meara!

Life Saver

If you're reading this right now, chances are that you're unfortunately doing your research on deciding which lawyer should represent you with driving under the influence. It's a nightmare. As someone with a prior DUI, and a laundry list of other citations and arrests, I was sure that my life and ...career were over with getting a second DUI. I know that Michael O'Meara is the lawyer you need to hire if you want the best possible outcome. Here is my story: Late one night I was out with a friend in Glen Ellen of DuPage County. I had some drinks and got behind the wheel of my car. I made a poor decision, thinking nobody was watching me, but sure enough Mr. Law was sitting blocks away. Of course I got pulled over and asked to perform a sobriety test. The police officer made his decision that I was intoxicated and he asked me to take a breathalyzer. I refused. Handcuffed...car towed...my life was turned upside down. The day after my arrest I was googling non-stop of what was going to happen to me. I was losing my mind. Since I had a DUI 10 years prior I knew I just turned down a long road and there was no turning back. So, first things first, get a lawyer. I was not happy with the lawyer on my first DUI case 10 years ago when I was 18. 28 years old now, and a job that requires a license, my livelihood and career were completely at stake with little options to fall back on. After researching for a top qualified lawyer with a history in prosecution, I found Mike"s website. I was on the phone with him that day (Sunday) probably within an hour after emailing. He never once tried selling me promises that some of these scam artist lawyers do, and that really stuck out with me. He was very empathetic and compassionate to me over the phone. Completely professional. A quick little piece of advice he told me was to STOP GOOGLING! Everyone's situation is different and that constantly obsessing over this would drive me crazy. He was right. SO, long story short...not only did I need to get the DUI dropped down to reckless driving, I NEEDED to get my license rescinded to to avoid the suspension from not breathalyzing. All a complete long shot for someone who has a prior DUI. Mike not only got the prosecutor to rescind my suspended license, but he successfully got my DUI dropped down to a reckless driving. His strategy was flawless, and he played my cards perfectly. The only luck that came out of this entire ordeal was me finding Mike O'Meara online in the first place. I fully recommend his services to my friends, my family and to whoever is reading this and trying to decide on a lawyer.

Aggravated Speeding

Michael O’meara saved me from a world of trouble. Before I first contacted him, I had no idea what to expect from my tickets, how serious the offense really was, or what could even be done to help my case. I was lucky enough to stumble upon him from a simple Google search and thought I would at least... reach out to him after seeing outstanding reviews from hundreds of people and on multiple websites. The moment I called Michael, he clearly explained to me the circumstances I was involved in, how serious the offense was, and what needed to be done in order for me to take the next steps. I was pulled over on the highway for going 26-34 mph over the speed limit. The officer not only gave me a ticket for that, but added on 3 additional tickets (using left lane, not using turning signal, and following too closely to the car in front of me). Since 2014, the State of Illinois has unfortunately changed speeding of 25+ miles over the speed limit to be considered a CRIMINAL OFFENSE. I am a graduate student in a doctorate program who was coming home after a long week of hard work and studying with a 1 hour+ commute each way to and from school. Once Michael explained to me the severity of the speeding ticket, firstly, the conviction would make me a CRIMINAL and I would also lose my license for an indefinite amount of time, with the chance of serving jail time in addition to not being able to drive to continue my rigorous graduate program. This could have easily ruined my career and ability to participate in clinical rotations where criminal background checks are required. Throughout the entire process, Michael was very insightful, put things into laymen terms so that everything was easy to understand, and honestly gave me the reassurance I needed in a time of such distress. Michael worked hard to do everything in his power to look out for my best interests. Michael is clearly an experienced attorney, is honest and upfront about everything (not something you often feel when dealing with lawyers), and is clear and concise. If you are honest with him, follow his advice and direction, I feel confident that anyone can have the same great experience I did. Mike was able to not only get my other 3 tickets nullified by the judge, but was also able to reduce my aggravated speeding ticket (which would be a criminal offense) down to a petty offense (NOT a criminal offense, received my license back, and requirement to not receive another speeding ticket for 12 months). You can feel at ease after paying the flat rate fee of $1500 as Michael will continue to work hard for you if additional court dates or behind the scenes work are needed without ANY other additional charging. With other lawyers, you may end up paying MUCH more than what you initially expected. In conclusion, I HIGHLY recommend Michael O’meara as an attorney, a friend, and a person you can trust. -DT
