John got GM to cover Chevy's financial obligation for rental car fees incurred/being denied payment

After many hours searching for attorney's that would take our case on a contingency basis, the only firm I came across that WOULD take on "contingency cases" was K&M; all other offices required retainers. After my initial consultation for a possible lemon law suit, K&M was hired to represent us again...st GM. Already plagued with many issues related to the matter of the lemon car, as well as multiple personnel changes at the local dealership, and the rental car company used by the dealership, I was happy to turn the matter over to our counsel; especially when we were notified in January by the dealership that they "have no/had no liability for our vehicle" which had been on their lot since May of the prior year, "as of the date the lawsuit was filed", and "better come get your vehicle cuz we're not liable for it even though it's been in our service departments possession for more than 9 months". Thankfully, after I passed on all my notes and documentation, the rest of the matter was handled by our counsel, saving me the additional stress of dealing with the multitude of deceitful employees. After months of back and forth offers and counteroffers, an agreement was finally struck with GM; just as we were about to sign the closing documents at the local Chevy dealership (GM's representative), Chevy "informed" us that the last two rental car leases made by Chevy with Hertz were not going to be honored/paid by Chevy and "insinuated" that they were "included in the lawsuit, but go ahead and finish signing the closing documents". They did everything to try to get us to relinquish the certificate of title right then and there, as the vehicle was back in their possession. As I knew that the rental car fees were not included in the lawsuit, I informed Chevy that they were in breach of the settlement agreement, and that "once the fees they incurred were paid and evidenced in writing that they had been removed from our name", only then, would we sign the closing settlement agreement; I also advised them that I was going to consult with our counsel "prior" to handing them the certificate of title - I knew better than believe them. John immediately contacted me back once I notified them that the closing documents were not completed due to "breach by GM"; he told me to give him time to speak with GM's attorney once I explained that Chevy was denying responsibility for the last two rental contracts initiated by them "as of the date the lawsuit was filed" stating that they were part of the suit - as GM's counsel may not be aware that Chevy was trying to pull a fast one on us/pass their responsiblility for approximately $4500 in rental car fees on to us - as he had also unaware of the situation until I mentioned it. Shortly thereafter, I was forwarded a new settlement agreement from GM, which DID include the rental car fees in the lawsuit as "Chevy had lied/insinuated they were" as GM had not been aware of the fact that Chevy was trying to pass off their financial obligation to us; now that the payment was guaranteed, it was safe to complete the closing documents and relinquish the certificate of title (as the car was left on the lot at the initial appointment to sign the closing documents). Though it was a timely process, it was well worth the wait to get our money back for the vehicle, and the best part was that there was no fee to us. I would highly recommend John Barker and his colleagues at K&M to handle your (lemon law) case; I couldn't find another organization that would take on our case for free (contingency basis), though I knew we had a strong case.

Excellent help

John was very helpful in getting our case settled quickly and decisively. We were very disappointed in the way Ford treated us. He kept us informed about what was going on. He got us a great settlement. We would highly recommend him to others.
