One of the most difficult decisions to make in your life ‘after all else fails’ will be to divorce. Emotions (both for you and your children), disappointments, the feeling of failure and a complete change to your life are a lot to handle. Finding the right attorney to represent you is biggest chall...enge you’ll experience. I feel must people don’t take the time to find that person and this is someone you’re going to partner up with for months! For me, I had visited three attorneys. One of the three had the skill set necessary but I didn’t feel overly confident we would work well together. A co-worker stopped by my office and asked “did you hire an attorney”? Reluctantly (as everyone’s always got the one for you) I said “no”. He said “I have one that you need to interview”. I said “is it the attorney you used”? He said “no, his ex-wife hired her and she made my attorney look like a fool”. I laughed so hard, I set up the interview. Talk about a referral! He was right, I met Linda in her office and I felt comfortable that she should be the legal counsel representing me. Originally I was nervous when I heard the news that my soon to-be ex-wife hired some hot-shot attorney. Upon completion of the divorce process, both my ex-wife and I feel Linda out performed her attorney. I write this as I feel it is so important to hire the best possible attorney and that person is Attorney Linda Vanden Heuvel. Someone you can count on from the beginning to the end.

Linda represented my sister in a very bad and traumatic car crash, where my sister suffered brain injuries. Linda left no stone unturned in making sure that my sister received every dollar to which she was entitled from the driver of the other vehicle. While my sister will never be able to dance at... her wedding, I can rest assured that she will be cared for for the rest of her life. Linda's representation of my sister was a 24/7 job. I know she cared for my sister and our family. We were not just a number on a file.

I wish I had researched her prior to hiring. Linda doesn't work with you or for you. I was being billed for unanswered emails/calls, belittled and even yelled at in her office on multiple occasions. I now know of others who have used her and said the same. She was never concerned with my case and I n...ever felt like a valued client. I was hardly updated on the process and each time I called to check on what was happening, I talked to a staff member who left her a message and I was charged for basically getting no answer to my question. Because Linda did not read through my MSA and advise me to do or not do some things, I am now battling with my ex on many items and will have to take him back to court. She is the expert and she was to advise me, but all she did was let me down. She wasn't going to fight to get me the most money for maintenance, I had to pay a divorce financial advisor to figure out the most I could get. Linda was going to let the judge decide. My ex-husband and I were trying to work things out between us to come to an agreement so we didn't have the judge decide everything and Linda did not like that. I feel that when she found this out, she stopped working for me. She never looked out for my best interest. I wasted 15 months and way too much money on her dragging her feet and being absolutely worthless. Put your money into a lawyer that will do the right thing not one that cares more about getting paid.
