Jerry Lykins is a Fantastic Attorney Who Cares about his Client!

I hired attorney Jerry Lykins just over a month and half ago to help resolve and defend me in several old cases I had in two separate West Michigan Courts. I found Jerry based upon a referral and doing some on line research. I contacted Jerry and knew from our conversation that he was the right pe...rson to help me. Jerry was direct, honest and provided me with answers to my questions. Since I had moved back to the Detroit area, I did not want to come back to the Grand Rapids area unless necessary. Both of my cases involved theft, one was a Shoplifting and the other a Larceny. Jerry handled everything for me and negotiated great resolutions so that I had to only come over from East side 1 time to handle everything. This type of management of my files and his communication with me and my family was very impressive and simply demonstrates his commitment to helping his clients and keeping them up to date. There were many times that I or my parents would have questions and we could call or text Jerry after hours or on the weekends and he would get right back to us. We really appreciated this type of access and his efforts to keep us up to speed. I would highly recommend Jerry Lykins to anyone who might be facing a criminal law type issue. Jerry is a great lawyer and caring person. He always went far beyond the call of duty in helping us. Thanks Jerry!

License Restored After 5 Years!

I hired attorney Jerry Lykins a little over a year ago to help me with trying to get my driving privileges back. I had lost my privileges 4 years before because of a 2nd drunk driving. At the time of my 2nd drunk driving, my thoughts were only on the issue of jail time, fines and costs. But as tim...e went on, the clear issue of losing my driving privileges became the big issue. Not being able to drive meant that I had to have my wife, family members and other drive me to everywhere. So, when I was finally able to seeking my license I was unable to make sense of the process. I would request the paperwork and simply put it aside and never move forward. Then about a year ago, I got serious. I contact numerous lawyers and scheduled meetings. After meeting with Jerry Lykins, I felt comfortable he was the right lawyers to help me. Jerry was knowledgeable about the process, he had a plan and structure program which helped me understand what I needed to do and what he was going to do in terms of preparing for my license hearing. The process took time, but we moved forward and a year ago we had our first hearing. Jerry was skillful and prepared me for the hearing and I was granted a restricted license with a Interlock system. For the next year, while I used the Interlock I had a number of situation which required me to contact Jerry. He was always there for me, and we were able to keep my privileges. Last week I had my final hearing with the Secretary of State. Once again, I had Jerry's help and when the hearing ended I was informed that I was getting my full license back. What glorious news for me and my family. I made bad choices many years before, but now, with Jerry's help I was free again. Thank you attorney Jerry Lykins

OWI third

Well, on the bright side, I only went to jail for 45 days. Did little to look into the specifics of my case specifically the treatment that was occurred while in custody of the Michigan State Police and Kent County Jail officials despite documented abuse while in custody. I solely prepared my statem...ent to be read in front of the court, which largely led to the sentence I received. In addition, did little to try to plead to a lesser offense. Status quo attorney, doesn't look to challenge the corrupt system or structure that is inherent to the Michigan legal system. Resulted in a felony conviction, but did a few months less in physical custody. However the felony conviction has proved to be an incarceration of its own, despite receiving multiple college degrees since release, it has proved impossible. I should have gone to trial, I was not made aware of the implications and stigma that comes with a felony conviction for a non-violent offense. I might as well have got a life sentence, this conviction has hindered me greatly. In addition, I received early release from probation on my own, but tried to contact Atty. Lykins for paperwork from my case which would have made obtaining my teacher certification in Colorado feasible, but roughly a year later I have yet to receive this paperwork. When I hired him, he talked a big game, but not coming through on little things like this show you where this attorneys allegiance's lie.

I was able to confirm that this individual was a client of mine in early 2010. I carefully reviewed my records to understand the exact reasons why this individual would be critical of how his case was handled. I have always attempted to zealously and intelligently represent client's interests to the courts. A review of this scan/saved file does little to help me understand his grievances expressed in his review. Now, I agree, no one should and does like having a felony conviction on their record. A felony convictions is like having a scarlet letter on their chest in terms of job opportunity. I wish the system was more forgiving of a person, especially when that person's conviction(s) involve substance abuse. But, as most know, we attorneys do not make the rules, we advocate and attempt to bend them and change them when possible. As far as paperwork, I invited this person to call my office any time and we will happily print off and send or scan and email the complete file to the client ASAP. I have no knowledge of such a request ever being made, that said, we do have two competent staff that would handle such a request. Of course, negative reviews, such as this are a part of business, but I hope this person will reach out to me personally to discuss their feelings so that I can attempt to resolve their issues with my representation. License Restoration Guru !!!!

I recently hired Jerry Lykins and the West Michigan Defense Team to help get my driving privilege restored after losing them in 2003. The process of getting my license back was a 10 year journey with two trips to the Secretary of State (the first trip without legal representation) and finally hiring ...Jerry and his firm to a successfully get my driver's license returned. I cannot say more about the ability of the Jerry and the Team to get my life and license back. Both Jerry and attorney Jeff Kortes worked on this and between the two of them I have my license back free and clear. They were always on top of the game, prompt and efficient in representation. The fees they charge are well worth the price and I would highly recommend their firm to anyone seeking a license. Thanks to Jerry and Jeff for their help!

EXCELLENT OWI ATTORNEY

First, let me simply state what I think of Jerry Lykins in terms of his abilities as an attorney. I have limited exposure to attorneys, but the few I have worked with and had contact with in the past are not even close to Jerry Lykins. Jerry was always efficient, professional and responsive to my n...eeds and questions. Jerry truly understood the issues I was dealing with having been arrest for Drunk Driving. Jerry explained to me all the in and outs of the drunk driving law and prepared me for everything that happened. When it came to handling my case is court, Jerry was a master. I had only to appear two times in Court and each time Jerry had my case in front of the Judge within minutes. Jerry was 100% correct in all of his assessments and predicting how the case would be resolved. As a result of his representation I had my case reduced from an OWI to an Impaired Driving and the Court did not even order probation. If I was ever asked to recommend an attorney for any criminal law type matter I would highly recommend Jerry Lykins. He is dependable, honest and fair. Most of all, he gets the job done!
