Excellent, honest advice

Susan Longsworth represented me in a traffic matter. I was issued a careless driving ticket after i slipped on ice and drove into a fence. I called several lawyers and was struck by Susan’s professionalism and approach over the phone. As a lawyer myself, I thought she stood out from everyone else ...I spoke with. Her advice, attention to detail, responsiveness and professionalism were excellent. Thanks to her, my case was resolved successfully and am so glad I hired her. I highly recommend her and would hire her again without hesitation.

Outstanding Attorney

I had an accident in Washtenaw County in 1997, and with out my knowledge I was charged with a DUI. I had no Idea till 2018 when I was pulled over on a Friday night for driving on suspended license, and with a bench warrant issued as well. This was a total surprise to me as to I had renewed my license... 3 times since the accident. Not being familiar with how this could of happened, I decided to seek an Attorney. I had reached out to several that were listed on line. To my surprise Ms Longsworth returned my call on a Sunday! That was very impressive, she obviously sensed my stress level was very high. She listened to my situation asked several questions, and then proceeded to help put me at ease offering that any problems can be solved. We set a meeting at one of her offices. Our meeting was in 2 day from our phone conversation. To my surprise she had found the case # a rough outline of what the problem was. This was all before ever meeting or agreeing to retain her. Which of course I did. She went to work right away pulling records, and getting a copy of a 10 year old police report. Once she had the facts she offered up several options of how to proceed. She never promised me that it would be a walk in the park as I presumed it would be. She explained that the District Attorney rarely just dismissed this type of charge. I was of the opinion that this must be a mistake and of course they would just throw it out. Turns out the legal system is much more complex, and structured than I would of ever imaged. I was treated like a criminal from the first appearance forward. Thankfully I had Susan on my side. They tried to plea it away, change derestriction's, post pone court dates, anything to make it more difficult to straighten out this mess. Susan was great at keeping me calm, and comforting my aggravation that was ever growing. Finally we had gotten to the appearance that was to set the trial date. Susan was extremely prepared to defend, or counter any type of prosecution direction they chose to use. Obviously the prosecutor was aware of this. When it came time to move forward, andset a trial date, they declined to proceed. I have been told that D.A.'s rarely if ever dismiss DUI charges due to the seriousness of charge, and public safety. Thanks to Susan's representation, and her persistency of exposing the facts of the situation. The county was not able to take advantage of innocent citizen caught up complex misunderstanding. If you need help navigating the traps of law, I highly recommend retaining Susan Longsworth!

Misdemeanor Aggravated Assault - Dismissed

As soon as I found out that the prosecutor's office was charging me with a misdemeanor aggravated assault, I had to do some research on who to go to in Washtenaw County. Reviews directed me to Susan Longsworth. Long story short, the reviews didn't lie! Susan educated me on the whole court process ...and was confident the entire time that I would be okay. She provided me all of the tools that I needed, which took a huge weight off of my shoulders. When it came down to crunch time, my case was dismissed after a settlement conference, which is rare due to the charge that could've potentially been on my record. I'm glad I hired an attorney who was a former prosecutor since she knows both sides of the whole court process. I know that her reputation is great throughout Washtenaw/Livingston County, and I have no regrets whatsoever on hiring who I thought was the best attorney there is in each of those counties. She is very reasonable, and will definitely put in the work needed to give one a favorable outcome. I would recommend Susan Longsworth to anyone who has taken a wrong turn in Washtenaw or Livingston County. You won't regret it!

Attentive Attorney

Susan did a great job defending me in a case in which I was grossly overcharged by the prosecutor's office. She was able to assist me by bringing my charge down from a felony to a misdemeanor through her attentive work to my case and her strong knowledge of the judicial system in Washtenaw County. As... a former prosecutor, she was able to bring a unique skill set to the table and effectively used the relationships that she has built over the years to help me better my situation. Susan seemed to care not only about my legal situation but also me as a person, and for that I was very grateful.
