Amy is a great listener and excellent communicator; I would not have accepted anything less when it came to securing my future with my child. Above all, Amy knows the law and, really, the law IS your best friend in this. Custody is an emotionally charged and overwhelming issue; it's easy to make rash... decisions. Up against less ethical parties, one might be tempted to drag the proceedings into the mud and start swinging. But that is a weak position. You need a lawyer who will process all of that emotional content and hold it up to the light of its relevance to the letter of the law. You need a lawyer who knows and is committed to that framework, someone with a deep knowledge and a true respect for procedure. The strongest position you can take in an emotionally charged case is fighting the battle on the sturdy planks of our legal framework. That is called taking the high road. Amy Ruby knows that framework well and fights for you on those strongest of terms. I had tremendous confidence all along the way thanks to her expertise. I am deeply pleased with the outcome. It's everything I wanted.

Amy understands and is knowledgeable about the law. However, I would not consider her an advocate or good counsel. She would not fight for me or my kids and backed down so she looked good to the other attorneys and court staff. She is not well respected in the family law circuit and often instead of ...giving good advice would tell me the law and then tell me to decide. This went for appearances as well. When asked if I should have her there or not she would leave it up to me. Then when we would go she absolutely was not needed and I'm sure she was aware of this but wanted billable hours. Please look elswhere. I did better on my own then having her as an attorney. I do have a new attorney now and he us better priced is willing to fight, is well respected, will give advice, cares about us, isnt interested in sucking up hours I could go on. Find an attorney that really cares about what you are going through and understands that not everything is black and white especially when it comes to relationships and people. She once told me that the family court doesnt care about how my kids feel. This is absolutely wrong and because she made me believe that I didnt reach out to the friend of the court. The friend of the court ended scolding me for not calling and explaining how my kids felt about the situation. She doesnt understand or possibly even care about people. If you are looking for someone to do something simple for you like recite a law or file a motion she would be expensive but would suffice. If you are looking for someone to truly advocate for you then this is not the attorney for you.

Amy Ruby is an excellent attorney who is professional and well prepared. I would highly recommend her for family situations including divorce or child custody matters including grandparent rights. I know she is well capable of most any legal situation. Amy Ruby will fight the fight and... support you all the way. It was a pleasure to have her as my attorney and grateful for her dedication and hard work on my behalf in legal situations over the last number of years. We developed a friendship that I will always treasure. Its a comfort to know Amy will be there for me if I where to need her again in the future. :-)
