Difficult DUI Case won via Jury Trial

When I was arrested for a DUI in Fort Lauderdale a little over a year ago, I was extremely distraught, and concerned about many aspects of my life going forward. I spent the next few days reaching out to Criminal and DUI Trial Attorneys in Fort Lauderdale, and spoke to 8 of them before finding Meltze...r & Bell. I submitted an online form to be contacted around 9pm on a Sunday evening, and was immediately contacted by Larry Meltzer himself. We spent about an hour an a half on the phone that evening going over the details of the case (which did not look great for me), the legal process that takes place in these matters, and covered a multitude of questions that I had regarding the matter. Larry answered all of them in a very easy-to-understand manner, took his time in addressing my concerns, and was perceivably extremely professional, intelligent, experienced, and well-versed in cases similar to mine. This same level of caring, attentive, and professionalism was maintained by Larry and his entire staff throughout the entire process. I went to meet Larry at his office a few days later when I returned to town, and immediately signed on to have him represent me in this case—to date, it was the best decision I have made in my life. As Larry’s legal team went through the process of the initial court hearings (I did not have to attend a single court date until trial), building a defense case, and negotiating with the prosecutors in an attempt to have this matter reduced to a Reckless Driving, it became clear that the prosecution felt very strong about their case, and our only course of action was trial by jury. Larry spent hours on the phone with me and in-person at his office, which is conveniently in the building directly across from the Broward Courthouse, going over the dash cam, body cam, and various other details pertaining to the case that would be relevant during the trial. He prepared me for my time on the stand testifying very thoroughly, and with extreme care and attention to detail. When the date of the trial came, the first order of business was jury selection. Throughout this process, he filled several pages worth of notes on the jurors, and before we began eliminating jurors alongside the prosecution, he let me know which 6 jurors he preferred (and believed were attainable) as well as the alternate—we received the exact jury panel that Larry was seeking—it was phenomenal. He asked for my thoughts throughout the jury selection process, but it was unequivocally evident that he was an expert in this process, and therefore I deferred all judgment to him. As the state presented their case, called their witness (the arresting officer) and Larry began to cross-examen their witness on the stand, he picked apart nearly every component of the witness’ testimony, the validity of the field sobriety tests administered (often referencing the NHTSA field sobriety test guidelines and highlighting the fact that the officer did not follow the guidelines), and the DUI investigation that the officer conducted before arresting me. He also picked apart all aspects of the state’s case against me, at every opportunity, throughout the entire trial. His expertise was unmatched, and after less than 90 minutes of deliberation, the jury came back with a Not Guilty verdict. I walked out the courthouse free of this burden that I had been walking around with for a little over a year, and feeling unimaginably blessed that Larry Meltzer had represented me during this trial, and throughout the entire process leading up to it. I can’t thank you enough Larry. I’d also like to thank attorney Stephen Dobrinsky who worked with me extensively leading up to the trial, and the entire team at Meltzer & Bell, who were always just a phone call away (and always picked up the phone), to answer any questions I had, and calm my nerves at times when I was unsure of the process and the next steps along the way. Thank you all!

Criminal Defense

I had the pleasure of having a consultation with Larry when I was met with false allegations of sexual misconduct at work. Larry was very thorough in exploring my timeline and evidence, and in coming up with a plan of action. He truly cared about protecting me and having the truth come out in a timel...y fashion. Larry is extremely dedicated, and quite clearly an expert in criminal defense. I would recommend Larry to anyone that has been falsely accused of a crime.

My experience with Larry and his firm

I am glad to have had Larry as my legal counsel, he was very knowledgable, compassionate and professional. After shortlisting a few lawyers, I decided to hire Larry as he was very compassionate and accommodating to my situation. His team always responded to my calls and emails and were available to m...eet me on short notice whenever the need arose. On the day of trial, he was well prepared while the state was not and leveraged the state's lack of preparation into reduced charges, despite the state offering a reduced plea deal he was not afraid to go into trial and the eventual decision was mine to go into a trial or take the plea deal. Thanks to Larry, I was able to avoid permanent damage and can put this experience behind me and move on with my life.

Exceptional Attorney
