The cure for my issue

My family law case prior to Roberts and Robold was out of control with no direction, guidance, or strategy, to create a solution that was best for me or my family. Initially, I was nervous, angry, confused and didn't trust anyone to assist me based on the history of family law, as I understood it. As... fate would have it, I had a consultation with David Roberts. I must add, I already had an attorney. David Roberts, LISTENED, to me and informed me of my options. After reflecting on the information Mr. Roberts shared with me, I retained Roberts and Robold. I am a professional, well-educated, successful, father of a wonderful son who presents me with challenges daily as a parent. For certain, one of the best decisions I've made in my life was to have representation from Roberts and Robold. Allow me to inform you, my family law case, has direction, guidance and a plan of action that ensures latitude, flexibility and firm aggressiveness in protecting my rights. I HIGHLY recommend Roberts and Robold for any area of law expertise they offer to clients. In addition, if you don't retain them, at least consult them. Any exposure to their level of expertise will also be of the the best decisions in life you will make. Thanks for your time in reading my review, and Blessings to you all. Freddie Jr.

Regret it

I hired Mr. Roberts because of the reviews and at the end of the day, most of the high cost retainer was gone mostly because many emails where lost, had to send information even 4 times for his assistant to act accordingly. The repetitive emails also where frustrating because it seemed that he did no...t get the right information on time. A day before my hearing, I went to the office to get ready and brought more evidence, only to wait in the lobby for 45 minutes after I saw him leave for lunch. Later his assistant had no idea about the status of the case, A Day Before! Tells me that she has not seen anything but only a box containing tons of paperwork. When I asked to see it, it comes exactly as I had turned it in. Perfectly organized and labeled but it had been untouched let alone revised. When in court the next day he seemed very confident and had a good start but the moment where he could have used the powerful evidence to expose the Respondent's lies, Mr. Roberts had nothing. I had asked him to make sure to bring a couple of very important issues and he said there was no need to put it in paper that they will be addressed at court. Never did so needles to say we lost this Contempt over two simple things that were based on lies from the other side! I was forced to go to court again to defend the same case and I still have anxiety episodes thinking that this man took my last $8,000 and did not put his effort or heart on it. Lost my hope in humanity again!

Years later I still feel he did not give it 100%

I never really felt that I was truly heard on what my needs and concerns were. Requests for specific things were not completely fulfilled. I was kept informed mostly by correspondence. Calls to the office will only add to the bill. I still feel I was just another client.

A Costly Lesson

I had hoped to leave a positive review for Mr. Roberts’ representation in my divorce and custody case. While he demonstrates strong legal knowledge and technical competence, I cannot recommend him to anyone seeking compassionate, transparent, or cost-conscious legal services. Over 15 months of rep...resentation, my case was delayed four times, leading to legal fees exceeding $120,000—nearly $50,000 more than the original estimate. These costs included $44,000 in expert witness fees for professionals Mr. Roberts strongly recommended and $15,000 in trial expenses. Despite my repeated concerns about mitigating costs, Mr. Roberts advised trial delays that could have been avoided with better preparation and planning. His office billed at steep rates, including $150/hour for clerical work, $275/hour for paralegal tasks, and $575/hour for senior attorney services. I was charged for nearly every pleading, email, and call—many of which felt unnecessary or duplicative. Beyond the financial strain, Mr. Roberts’ conduct was, at times, unprofessional and dismissive. He made disparaging remarks, such as accusing me of using my grandmother’s death to reduce fees, frequently suggesting I “needed therapy,” and blaming me for rising legal costs. He also repeatedly threatened to withdraw from my case if advance payments weren’t made promptly. Ultimately, he did withdraw—abruptly and without sufficient notice—just 10 minutes before a key hearing, leaving me unrepresented at a critical juncture. Rather than feeling supported during one of the most challenging periods of my life, I felt financially cornered, stressed and as if I were walking on eggshells. Communication regarding anticipated costs was poor, billing practices were frequently vague and confusing, and I was often left questioning whether my best interests were truly prioritized. If you are considering hiring Mr. Roberts, I encourage you to carefully evaluate your options and seek counsel who will respect your time, resources, and well-being.

Disappointing

Hiring David Roberts was a mistake. His firm rarely communicated with me except to ask for more money. In court he allowed the opposing attorney to run circles around him. He rarely objected, and never challenged the falsehoods presented by the other party. I had a temporary injunction against me... and Dave negotiated with the opposing attorney to make the injunction permanent in exchange for getting me supervised visitation, which never happened. He then failed to file for contempt for the opposition's non-compliance. I spent most of the time with him waiting for him to do something, or forking over more money for no results. Eventually I was forced to go with a different attorney.
