Practice Area: Real Estate LawServices Provided: Real Estate Closing I retained Mr. Douglas for a residential real estate closing in December 2025. This was one of the most frustrating professional experiences I’ve had. Communication Failure: Despite advance notice from my mortgage company, my...self, and others about an incoming time-sensitive wire transfer, the office became completely unavailable when verification was needed. Over 1.5 days, my bank (Goldman Sachs), my wealth manager (LPL Financial), my mortgage company, and I personally all attempted to reach the office for wire verification. Each attempt was met with responses that staff were unavailable. I was later informed that staff were working during these attempts. This is particularly troubling because the office had successfully verified a prior wire using the exact same process just days earlier. Financial Impact: The failure to verify the wire caused me to miss my employer’s relocation deadline, resulting in significant relocation-related costs. Interestingly, after this deadline passed, I wired a much larger amount for the actual closing which the office verified immediately and without issue. Good Faith Efforts to Resolve: Rather than immediately filing complaints or legal action, I made multiple professional attempts to work with Mr. Douglas’s office to resolve the damages: 1. Attempted to communicate directly with the office to discuss the damages and seek informal resolution 2. When those attempts were ignored, sent a formal demand letter via certified mail requesting reimbursement for the costs I incurred due to their negligence 3. When the initial letter was returned due to an addressing error, I paid for overnight delivery with signature confirmation to ensure receipt 4. Provided clear, reasonable options for resolution: reimbursement or professional liability insurance information 5. Gave adequate time for response The office received and signed for the letter on January 8, 2026. Despite all these good faith efforts, I have received absolutely no response - not even a basic acknowledgment of receipt. Action Taken: Given the complete lack of professional accountability and response, I have filed a formal complaint with the State Bar of Georgia regarding Mr. Douglas’s professional conduct in this matter. Professional Concerns: ∙ Failed to ensure coverage for time-sensitive matters despite advance notice ∙ Selective availability (unavailable for my deadline, immediately available after) ∙ Complete failure to respond to multiple attempts at professional resolution ∙ Zero professional accountability or integrity ∙ No willingness to address damages caused by their own negligence I gave this firm every reasonable opportunity to handle this professionally. They chose complete silence. I cannot recommend this attorney or this firm. The lack of basic professional responsibility and client communication is unacceptable.
