I am a former client of Steven Shewmaker. Fortunately or unfortunately I may be his client again, but at least I know if I do need an attorney, Steve will be my only choice. I fought my child custody/visitation case in both California and Georgia. Steve worked for me in the state of Georgia and ...although most of my case was worked in California, where I live, it was such a relief to know that although I was not there in Georgia, I had an attorney that has an impeccable work ethic and trust worthy character. I did not have to stand behind him to know my case was important to him as well as me, and I could continue my life and day to day stress without worrying about what was happening in Georgia without me there. Steve is very thorough and creative, he thinks outside the box when there is nothing else left in the box to work with. I never saw Steve procrastinate or appear disinterested, exactly the opposite, I would get off of the phone with Steve feeling confident and assured. I highly recommend Steven Shewmaker as a Family Law attorney.

The Best Attorney Money Can Buy

I cannot speak highly enough of Steve Shewmaker. Writing a review for an attorney of Steve’s caliber is one of the most challenging endeavors I have ever undertaken as I cannot put into words my overwhelming gratitude. I hired Steve in December 2012 one week prior to my court date to handle a f...amily law modification case that had a degree of complexity of epic proportions. I am a father with primary custody and my ex-wife attempted to modify custody. If a father with custody asking an attorney to prepare for trial in less than a week on a case that has years of history is not complex enough, my prior divorce decree was from out of the State of Georgia which created an even more convoluted legal arena in which Steve had to operate. My previous out of state court order was poorly written and it was designed in a manner for a father with custody to fail. For many years I was saddled with trepidation and afraid that one minor human error may cost me custody. Although I was an emotional wreck living in a constant state of fear, Steve was cool and collected from the start. He treated me with the respect and dignity of a trusted colleague, set realistic expectations, and alleviated my anxiety. Steve worked evenings and the weekend to prepare me for trial. When the day of court arrived and I took the stand I was at ease knowing that Mr. Shewmaker was in complete control. Steve was well prepared, organized, and he commanded the courtroom in the manner I’d expect of a Lieutenant Colonel and a former US Army Ranger. He was an aggressive, yet diplomatic, litigator that was only focused on achieving an outcome that was in my and my children’s best interest. His performance the day of trial was outstanding as I watched his calculated and methodical strategy unfold. In the legal arena there are no guarantees that a judge will rule in your favor. After the dust settled from trial I not only retained custody, but my kids ended up with a far better arrangement than what I was willing to negotiate pre-trial. For many years I acquiesced to nearly every demand from my ex-wife out of fear; Steve gave me the courage to finally say ‘no’ and lifted a great burden from my shoulders. There is nothing more important than your kids; you can trust that Steve Shewmaker will provide you the absolute best legal representation that money can buy.

God Blessed me to have Mr. Shewmaker as my Lawyer

Let me begin by saying "THANK YOU" to Mr. Shewmaker. My case was a child custody case with my ex-husband. I had another lawyer that honestly did not have the chops to carry out my case. I was referred to Mr. Shewmaker by another law firm in the Altanta area due to his military experience. I needed re...al help, my case was 2 hours away but, I needed a good lawyer and he was not only GOOD but AWESOME. I was awarded custody and I thank God, Mr. Shewmaker, and the Judge for making that so. All truth will come to light and he has the experience and know-how to fight the tough cases.

Steve's work is impeccable

Cool, calm and calculating, just to name a few of Steve's qualities. He is definitely a "straight shooter" and keeps you well informed of the reality of your case but offers realistic options and great advice. I never felt that the focus was about money. You hear so many horror stories about attorney...s but my experience has been a pleasurable one with Steve. He is very focused even when you think he's playing around. His performance in court demonstrated his ability to control and guide the case to a favorable outcome. He is a natural leader with many great qualities. Even the opposing counsel seemed to look towards Steve for direction at times. Steve's approach is simple but effective. He cuts through all the bureaucratic nonsense and gets right down to business. As a man in a custody case, I had my reservations about using a male attorney but it was the best decision I made other than seeking full custody of my children. I guess because of Steve's military background, I tend to think of his performance as a "Drone attack". He does a massive amount of preparation and then things seem to get eerily quiet at times. I sometimes thought that I had been forgotten but Steve was only looking out for my expenses. His phone calls were brief and to the point. Steve is not going to waste your time or money on useless conversation. When the time came he attacked every possible aspect, with great precision. He picked apart the opposing counsel and was such a gentleman about it. The bottom line is that Steve is an amazing attorney, extremely ethical, very knowledgable and professional.

Some people are just born to be lawyers

Steve Shewmaker is hands down the best family Attorney. I hired Steve to represent me for a very grueling and complicated case involving child custody, visitation, child support and domestic violence. In the court room and mediation he was intelligent, firm and gets straight to the point. He doesn...’t sugarcoat or gets your hopes up. He tells it exactly how it is. He is an incredible Attorney with an efficient and professional staff by his side. He is accessible and available. I can’t thank him and his staff enough for helping me and my son through a very difficult and frustrating time.
