Bottom line: Mr. Eric Kopka and his team's work over a year's span resulted in the Marine Corps deciding to retain me in the service as a Captain at 10 years of service at a Board of Inquiry. Topic: Political bias while in uniform Discussion: During my retirement ceremony I elected to have Donald Trump LOA read instead of the current sitting President. The narrator read the LOA that was mailed from Donald Trump himself and signed. Added was the following: Signed Donald J. Trump 45th... President and soon to be 47th". Ultimately (5) IG complaints were filed (IMEF, IIMEF, IIIMEF, 1stMarDiv, and HQMC). The investigation was launched, and a narrative was formed, I was never read my rights or suspected of a crime, but I was placed on legal hold and my retirement was in limbo. My name was entered in the "Officers Blackbook" and I was informed of the administrative process that could take 9-12 months easily putting my retirement plans on hold and uncertainty.
