My case was more complicated than a speeding or DUI type case. I was beginning to lose hope during this pandemic that had caused my case to be continuou...sly delayed and was set to be delayed for a year. I hired Bill Powers to handle a DWI charge. Bill told me early on to be patient and trust him to get through the process. It took time with postponed court dates and the corona virus delay, but after slogging through the lower court we appealed to Superior Court on the basis of an unreasonable stop.... Bill Powers is a master in the courtroom. He has a presence, along with quick thinking abilities, that holds everyone somewhat spellbound. I got a DWI in downtown charlotte and blew a .15. I consulted with Mr. Powers after being referred from a friend that had a DWI while lisence revoked/ 3rd DUI completely dropped. When we met he laid out the process for me and told me it would be a long road to victory but man was it worth it!! When ...I was younger I had a similar experience with the court system and the lawyer I paid did next to nothing for me and I almost got the same feeling after such a long wait before Mr. Powers pulled out the big guns in trial. Just listening to him speak for me made me understand why he has such good success. He dominated the courtroom and proved that I was innocent and the officer didnt have probable cause to place me under arrest based on the several factors of information in the officers testimony of the event. In my opinion I'm an intelligent/educated person (degree in math) and normally can tell when things aren't going to gi my way. With this case I thought we were at a dead end and there was no way I was getting out of this without an intoxilizer in my vehicle and having to apply for driving privileges, but Bill ended up actually educating the police officer during trial of how inexperienced the officer was on conducting a field sobriety test to begin with. The judge actually told the DA, "make sure that police officer is prepared the next time he comes into my court room". This man was a blessing and I will be sending him a gift for the work he did for me hes worth every freaking dollar, plus more. Fact: Hire Bill Powers!

Many words come to mind to describe how Bill was as my lawyer. Although impressive, caring, and accessible, all come to mind, I think Trusting is the most important. Bill represented me for some time during a very difficult case and through it all, I learned a lot about Bill. When I had questions I c...ould contact him and ALWAYS received immediate responses. When in the courtroom, he proved his profound knowledge of the law which from the prosecutors hesitant responses always was heavily respected. Any advice or explanation he gave me, he made so transparent I couldn't help but trusting every decision or idea he had.
