Amazing!!

I hired Bill after firing my main Charlotte law firm to help me deal with a situation with CMPD. Bill was amazing throughout. First, his communication is top notch! He responded to my email within minutes after reaching out to him. He listened thoroughly to my story, asked great questions, and then l...aid out his high level approach to how he’d handle my case. I’ll spare the long version here, but in short, Bill was amazing. He was able to help resolve the situation in a manner which could not have been any better. He’s even still working with me to ensure we clean everything up from the situation. DUI Charge/ Incredible and Compassionate

When facing the complicated legal issue of being charged with a DUI, you certainly want the best- an experienced attorney and firm that understand the complexities of state laws, specific county laws, and local court systems. Thorough research brought me to Bill Powers and his comprehensive team- and... they certainly are experienced and the BEST. I called on a Sunday, fraught with fear and anxiety and , to my surprise, received a call back from Bill Powers! He was able to quell my looming fear and persistent anxiety with his kindess, compassion, and his astute knowledge of the North Carolina laws surrrounding my paticular charges . Througout this overwhelming process, Bill and his team of Chris Beddows and Melissa were able to offer compassionate and non-judgemental guidance on how to navigate my situation. I followed their lead and suggestions (which included completing my alcohol assessment and all of my recomended OP classes before my pre-trial appearance). On the day of reckoning, Bill was able to negotiate with the DA and my DUI was dimissed with the offer to plead to a reckless driving charge. Truly grateful for all that Bill Powers and his team and highly recommend! Thank you!!!

DWI Case

Bill Powers and his team are great to deal with! Had a DWI case in Lincoln county and because of the COVID my case kept getting put off and finally my last court date Bill was able to get my case dismissed!!! Such a relief, can’t thank Bill enough!!

DWI Case with Complications

Recently, I had the good fortune of being represented by Mr. Bill Powers and his Powers Law Firm, P.A., located in Charlotte, North Carolina. I am a Maryland resident that was arrested and charged in North Carolina in a case with a complicated probable cause. After reviewing different law firms onl...ine, I selected the Powers Law Firm. My experience working with the firm, including the legal assistants and other employees, was excellent. The firm’s staff and legal assistants were all very responsive and helpful, and they always promptly returned my emails and calls. I was well prepared for my day in court, and I elected to have Bill Powers himself to represent me. I found that Mr. Bill Powers was very attentive to detail, and very good about sharing with me his extensive knowledge of North Carolina law. Once I was in court, it was apparent that Mr. Powers was very well respected by the judge, the district attorney, and the officers that came to court that day. WOW, thanks for the very kind review! Not knowing what to expect or how the system works is normal. It’s OK ask, “What will happen to me? What are my legal rights? What are the best-case and worst-case scenarios?" Lawyers provide information and advice based on the law and facts at hand. We explain options. We work very hard to provide sound legal advice and guidance. To be clear, WE DO NOT WIN ALL OUR CASES. Deciding what to do and what is best in any given circumstance requires time and compassion. We believe it helps to have a LOT of practical courtroom experience helping people. My legal advice comes from decades of being in court, arguing cases, and helping clients. I think in recommending whether to take a matter to trial or not, a lawyer should very much consider past successes and failures. We ask clients, “What do you want? What is best for you? What are your goals?” Again, we cannot guarantee a result or a particular type of resolution. Legal matters, especially in our areas of practice, tend to be serious. They carry consequences. They can be emotional, complex affairs. What we do promise is to be honest and do our level best to help clients through often difficult circumstances. There can be a lot of moving parts involved in any legal matter. That’s true for complex divorce cases with kids and Equitable Distribution issues as well as serious felony allegations. Even a “simple speeding ticket” requires a discussion about prior tickets, at-fault accidents, driving school, PJC’s, and consideration of other drivers on a policy and/or within a household. The laws and legal system in North Carolina have, in our humble opinion, become incredibly complex. Frankly, what adds to the confusion is that people now seem to “Google” everything. We spend a tremendous amount of time as lawyers clarifying (and sometimes politely correcting) how things actually work in real-world courtroom settings. We also work very hard to promptly respond to inquiries. We don’t mind answering questions more than once. It’s part of the process. Again, it can be a lot to take in. I’ve been doing this for a long time (since 1992). I understand the importance of breaking things down, considering the different elements of a case, and preparing a plan to address the issues involved. We follow protocols. We systematically analyze legal issues and fact patterns. We want clients to be involved in that process and to provide information. And we use technology to do so, when appropriate. As such, whether it's by phone or email or text, we want to answer questions and provide info ASAP. Part of our preparation for trial process involves asking a LOT of questions, which also necessitates a certain amount of "face time" with clients. That can be done by a video conference, in-office meeting, or by phone as well. We understand people have jobs and kids and other responsibilities. Taking time off from work to travel to a law office may not be convenient. That’s especially true for cases where the client lives possibly hours away. We want to meet people at their point of need and comfort level. Through it all, we want to be professional and kind and polite. We do not judge people or the mistakes they may have made.
