Bill used his skill to win my case

Bill represented me for a DWI case in which I blew a .08. His staff was very responsive and helpful during this stressful time. In court, our motion was denied, so I became really worried that I would be found guilty. Bill did not flinch. He meticulously dissected the video of the field sobriety ...tests, focusing on how well I did. The judge must have been convinced because he said he found reasonable doubt and then said the words, "Not guilty." My life would have been severely impacted by a guilty verdict, so words can't describe how I felt. More importantly, I am fortunate my incident did not impact others, and I have changed to ensure nothing like this happens again. Thanks Bill!!

Below My Expectations

My DWI was the result of making a left turn on a red light which I contested. I hired Bill Powers thinking I had the best attorney for my situation. Soon after hiring him I realized I was assigned a different attorney. I completed my assessment prior to court as advised to do. Many months went ...by and I didn’t hear anything from the firm regarding my case. There was no mention of how this case would be handled other than it was a team approach. The only time there was any communication was when I made a call months apart with a question. On my court day I plead not guilty. Mr Powers had the officer on the stand and he began his questioning. He asked the officer to draw on the chalk board the intersection in question. The board literally fell from the wall to the floor. ( Not Mr Powers fault) He proceeded to draw on a legal pad with the D.A. looking on as well. Meanwhile I’m sitting at the table not seeing anything to dispute. At the end all I was told was , “ It was close.” In addition, I never had an opportunity to speak other than having to plead out. I was very disappointed of the outcome. One year of waiting for my day ended as a disaster in a matter of minutes. Meanwhile I have to live with the outcome on my record.

He takes the money & runs

Bill represented me for DWI & sent other attorneys, not even from his firm, in his place to get a continuance on numerous court days. The first time he showed up in court to ask for a continuance himself, he didn't even have a copy of the police report for my case (this was months later). The day my ...case was finally presented, he had no clue about my side of the story, despite the fact that we had met at his office & discussed it on several occasions. He actually seemed to "side with" the officer who charged me with the offense. The officer falsified statements in the police report, but Bill did nothing to refute these statements. In fact, Bill said the officer seemed like a "trustworthy" guy & why would he lie about certain things?? Maybe because he wanted to nail my case? I feel like I completely wasted my money on Bill, because all he ended up doing is recommend that I plead guilty to the offense. I don't feel like he spent anytime actually reviewing my case during all the time we were waiting for the final court date. He was not prepared for me to plead guilty that day & obtain limited driving privileges. He wanted me to call someone to pick me up from the courthouse after my license was surrendered then get a ride to his office the next day to pick up the paperwork, etc. After the fact, when I needed his help/advice on driver's license questions he simply did not respond to my emails and phone calls. I could go on & on, but in short, I could have done the exact same thing he did if I had represented myself. Don't waste your money hiring Bill.
