Fought on my side for a DUI

In 2015, I was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence in Central Virginia. A friend that had been in a similar situation recommended Mitch Wells. When I called Mr. Wells, he was particularly helpful in explaining the clause in the law that pertained to my specific situation. After revi...ewing the case and speaking with the prosecutor, Mr. Wells made it clear what my opinions were and what the possible outcomes might be. Ultimately, I chose a plea deal for a traffic infraction and a fine rather than go to trial despite Mr. Wells being confident that we would win at trial. With a wealth of experience and knowledge, I highly recommend Mitch Wells to family, friends, and strangers.

Richmond 1st DUI Reduced to Reckless Driving with only a FINE

I was arrested for a 1st DUI with a BAC of 0.11 in Richmond City. I had interviewed two Richmond DUI attorneys in-person and talked with one over the phone before hiring Mitchell Wells. I found him to be the most credible and professional. (I had also called a prominent DUI attorney in Atlanta, Georg...ia for a referral, and the attorney recommended the Riley & Wells law firm.) After speaking with him, he seemed optimistic that he could get the DUI charge amended to Reckless Driving. (He also has a very knowledgeable and polite staff of paralegals who were able to answer important questions about my case.) He always returned my calls in a very timely manner -- which is extremely important. He was very clear in explaining to me what his defense strategy was going to be over the course of my case. We had to go to court three times over the course of three months. Mitchell talked with the prosecutor each time we went to court, and finally, after our third appearance and the arresting police officer not showing up, he was able to get the charge amended to Reckless Driving. The only penalty was a $500 court fine. I didn't have my license suspended, receive jail time, or have to go to VASAP. I am extremely satisfied with the result. I feel that it was almost unprecedented, and extraordinary. Mitchell has a lot to be proud of, and I recommend him as a strong DUI attorney in Richmond.

DUI 2ND OFFENSE WITH REFUSAL

I was arrested for a DUI 2nd offense within 3 years and refusal to take a breathalyzer test, two offenses which carried brutal punishments; loss of license for 6 years, 90 days in jail, and an ignition interlock system installed in my vehicle for 3 years. Not to mention the thousands of dollars in co...urt costs, extreme increase in car insurance, and two terrible charges that can and will ruin your quality of life. I am a department of defense employee with a classified clearance and in order to maintain that status I could not be convicted of these charges. I was afraid for my life and looked up DUI lawyers the very next day after my arrest. I researched a little and found Mitch Wells as one of Richmond’s rising star lawyers, and after speaking with him on the phone I felt at ease and comfortable, he was very personable and promptly made me aware of the stipulations of the arrest and how we were going to contest the charges brought against me. He was extremely knowledgeable of the law and how the court system worked and was always available and informative on any questions I asked regarding the case. With the research and the commitment Mr. Wells gave my case my DUI charge was amended to reckless driving and the refusal allegation was nolle prosequi, which means the Commonwealth of Virginia declined to prosecute for that offense. I am extremely happy with my results, without Mr. Wells expertise I could have lost my career and most importantly my financial stability to support myself and my family. I am more than grateful for Mr. Wells and his office’s support. They were very personable and understanding of the situation which produced the best possible outcome for the charges. My family and I thank you for all that you did for me, you saved my life…

Worst attorney I have ever hired

He never got back to me on phone calls. If I left a message it was up to a month before he called me back. I got the harshest penalty for a first time DUI that I have seen from anybody else. I was sentenced to 20 days, ignition interlock for 12 months, and double the fine. He did not help at all ...and I would have been better off going in by myself. He had no clue of the restricted license situation and seemed as if he was the prosecutor. I have hired numerous attorneys but hired him because of his high rating, in hopes he would be excellent. Worst decision I ever made. It cost me 2500 dollars and he literally did NOTHING to help the situation. BY FAR THE WORST ATTORNEY EVER!
