Waste of Money

I paid 1,000 for Mr. Long's help regarding a reckless driving ticket. I still got points on my driving record, my license suspended, a hefty fine, and even had to sit in a cell for four hours. He threatened me with ten days of jail time. It was a speeding ticket on a highway. No one was injured. I... sat through plenty of cases before me going just as fast and I feel like I spent 1,000 dollars and did not get my money's worth at all. He threatened ten days of jail so hard and so much that my whole family was worried sick.

I'm sorry that you believe you did not get your moneys worth from my representation. I understand your frustration that the judge decided to hold you in the back for four hours. Every judge has a cut off point where they start giving jail time on high speed cases. Most judges give jail time when the speed reaches 100 mph, and for some judges the limit is 95 or even 90 mph. Fortunately no-one was injured in your case, but these judges see many high speed cases which result in injury and even death, so they view driving at very high speeds as reckless and dangerous behavior. However, even in very high speed cases, we can mitigate the amount of jail time through driving school, community service hours, a clean driving record, and other evidence that we provide to the court at sentencing. I'm sorry that in this case we were not able to achieve a satisfactory result. Lastly, I apologize that I came across as threatening. I presume that your speed was such that either I thought that the general district court judge may give you ten days, or that an appeal of the general district courts decision could result in a ten day sentence in the circuit court. Either way, my intent was to provide information, not to threaten. I'm sorry that I caused you and your family to worry. Please contact my office if you would like to discuss this case further, or how I could have served you better. Sincerely, David Long

disappointing experience

I hired David based on all the outstanding reviews on here. My experience was quite different than what the reviews portray. Though David was nice and informative upon us first speaking, once I had hired him he became much less responsive and helpful. He failed to notify me when my case had been cont...inued, and on the day of my case he never contacted me to let me know what had happened. So I had to reach out to him, and when I did he was abrupt and made light of the situation, which I thought was inappropriate. The outcome was worse than the worst-case-scenario he had described during our initial consultation. He had told me what my fine could be, so I expected it but hoped he could do better. He couldn't. On top of that I had to take a 12 hour reckless driving course (in addition to the 8 hour course I'd already taken) and do an absurd amount of community service. Those possibilities were never mentioned to me, so I was really shocked and upset. When I expressed my disappointment in the outcome, he played it off like it was a good outcome, saying he "thought the judge was going to convict me of reckless driving." --- what?! If he had no confidence in his ability to even help me, why did he take my case...? If you have a reckless driving charge with a higher speed like I did, I think you can do much, much better than David and I highly recommend you find someone else.

I am truly sorry that you had a bad experience. I pride myself on my communication skills, and I'm disappointed that I let you down in that respect. Although I'm pleased that I was able to get the high speed reckless driving charge reduced to a noncriminal citation, I can understand your frustration in having to take an additional driving course and perform community service hours. Please contact me if you would like to discuss how I could have served you better. Sincerely, David Long

Unhelpful and rude.

Please, do some research and find an attorney who is not a scam artist. I explained to Mr. Long I was a student with a tight budget. He threw all the other lawyers in the area under the bus and explained he was the best and that I should use him because he would get my speeding ticket reduced. Mr. Lo...ng was nice until the day of court when he attempted to explain why he was unable to get my ticket reduced. It was a bunch of lies from beginning to end. My ticket was not reduced and I received points on my license. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY HE IS NOT A SEASONED LAWYER AND HAS NO SOLID RELATIONSHIPS WITH PROSECUTERS OR JUDGES. I only had a speeding ticket, BEWARE if you have felonies RUN! This is not your guy
