Apathetic

Hired attorney I had received a DUI on Pentagon grounds late last year and hired Marina Medvin based on the really positive reviews on this website and other websites. I hired her and sent her my police report, but never saw her until the actual court date, which is fine enough. I received 2 days ...jail time, a restricted license and probation for a year, 40 hours community service, and a mandatory alcohol education class from the Federal court in the great state of Virginia. The real problems came up afterwards. I get it, my case was closed and she got her $5000 fee so she didn't care anymore, but considering there were related problems afterwards to my court order, with one MAJOR issue where she was completely wrong, I felt she could have at least made an effort to correct her own mistake. The first problem was that my jail time fell on the Friday and Saturday in January when we had the major blizzard. My jail sentence was on the eastern shore of Maryland, about 60 miles from home across the Bay Bridge, and with the snow I was seeing if I could get my jail date postponed. I called the jail and the courthouse, and they both told me that the best thing to do would be to call my lawyer and ask her to request the sentencing the judge for a postponement. I called her with no response, and her response to my email was that she wasn't involved in this and that I should ask my PO. OK whatever, so instead of dealing with the headache of being led around in circles, I just decided to drive through the blizzard Friday night to jail, and drive back home Saturday night in the blizzard. The second thing that happened is what really led to this review and her rating. Although I was pulled over in VA, my driver's license and state of residence is MD. She ASSURED me that the Federal order for the restricted driver's license could not be enforced, and that the VA DMV would not be involved since I was pulled over in federal property and I had a Maryland driver's license. To my shock and surprise, I received a letter from the VA DMV informing me that 1) my license was suspended, 2)I had to complete a VA alcohol class ($400), 3)I had to submit a special certification of insurance for DUI drivers, and 4) I had to pay a $220 reinstatement fee. This was a huge psychological blow to me, because the one comfort I had with going to jail was that the end was in sight. All I had to do afterwards was complete 40 hours of community service, and any Maryland alcohol class, even an online one (per my Federal PO). But with this letter I felt like I was being dragged back down. I emailed Marina about this, and her response was that she had never seen this happen before, and IF I WAS SURE THAT I HAD A MARYLAND DRIVERS LICENSE. Yes, I'm sure what state I live in and drive in, thanks. Other than that, she had nothing else to say, just that I should call the DMV and ask if it was a mistake. I called them, and no it was not a mistake. When I told her this, she said it wasn't that bad because I had to take the alcohol class anyway, and all I could do was keep talking to the DMV, but that she didn't know what else to do because she doesn't deal with the DMV. And that was it; she did not offer to help in any other way, or try to help correct this blaring mistake that she had made.

Excellent Attorney - The Best

I cannot thank Marina enough for what she did for me. I was charged with a DWI after having a single car accident. I found Marina through Avvo and I'm very thankful for it. She is the best lawyer you can ever find. From the very first moment, she gave me the confidence I needed. She is very professi...onal and extremely knowledgeable, not only about the laws but all the police procedures, courts, prosecutors... you name ir, she knows everybody. She always got back to me personally and very promptly, even when she was out of town on vacations. She broke down my case thoroughly and explained what she was going to do. Always fighting for the best outcome possible. Marina is very passionate, dedicated and persistent about her cases, and she genuinely cares about people (her clients). I could tell she put in relentless efforts, as well as her paralegal, making all the necessary researches and gathering every piece of information in no-time, even the police report and evidence presented in my case. In the end she got the prosecutor to drop the charges with a nolle prosequi, which was virtually the best possible outcome. Even then, she kept fighting to make sure the Commonwealth was dropping the case for good. She is not only very passionate about her job but it is very pleasant person to work with. Thank you Marina, blessings and keep doing a great job!

Medvin Law

Marina Medvin was hired to represent me in a Federal DUI case. She worked tirelessly providing a sound defense to all charges and ultimately got the entire case dismissed. I could not have asked for better representation and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND her for any criminal case in Virginia or in the F...ederal Courts. Additionally, she was supportive, kind and dedicated to my wife and I throughout the entire process. She communicated regularly and responded quickly to any questions. We always felt "in the loop". Thank you Marina for being a such an outstanding attorney and always putting your clients first!

Very responsive and attentive

Although I did not hire Ms. Medvin only because I was referred to another lawyer by a trusted friend, I still wanted to take a moment and mention that it was a pleasure to consult briefly with her. I contacted Ms. Medvin around 9 am on January 1st and she responded within half an hour!! How many lawy...ers would do that?! I spoke to her on the phone later that morning and she sounded very professional, reassuring and knowledgeable. I could tell I would be in good hands had I hired her. When a lawyer is so responsive and detailed, it's a great indication that she would commit to her clients completely.

Extremely efficient and proactive professional

I chose Marina Medvin as my attorney to defend me against the criminal charge based on all the positive reviews I have read. Marina was courteous, professional and responsive to my questions and requests. She put me at ease by proactively securing the hearing date and then building the defense so m...y charge was ultimately reduced to a non-criminal one. And I did not even have to show up in the courthouse. I highly recommend Marina if you want a peace of mind and the prompt, efficient and proactive service.
