After I received a ticket for Reckless Driving by Speed (more than 20 miles over the speed limit), I was honestly scared. I had no idea that speeding by itself could result in a suspended driver's license, let alone jail time. I knew that if I went to jail, even if only for only a few days, I could... possibly lose my job, which meant we couldn't afford our mortgage and we'd lose our home as well. I received a number of solicitations in the mail from criminal defense attorneys, none of which impressed me (one was even hand-written with different color markers!). My wife convinced me to research criminal defense attorneys online, and Marina seemed the best. After I talked to her on the telephone and understood her level of experience, not only with the law, but also with the system in general (i.e. she knows the judges, the prosecutors, the cops, etc.), I was convinced that Marina was the best defense attorney I could hope for. Marina advised me what to do before my court date (including 40-50 hours of volunteer community service), and because of that she was able to work out a deal with the prosecutor to reduce my offense to a 3-point speeding ticket with a $500 fine. This was an even better outcome than we were hoping for. You can find cheaper defense attorneys in Northern Virginia, but I don 't think you can find a better or more knowledgeable one, or one who will more zealously advocate for your benefit. If you can't afford to go to jail or lose your driver's license, then you can afford to hire Marina.

Ms. Medvin is a phenomenal attorney! She represented my after I had been arrested for a Hit-And-Run class 1 Misdemeanor that occurred in the drive-through of a local fast food restaurant. I inadvertently touched the bumper of the car in front of me. There was no vehicle damage or personal injury..., however the aggrieved party decided to contact the police after we both had departed the restaurant. Ms. Medvin quickly assessed this incident during our initial consultation, agreed to represent me, guided me through the process of gathering supporting information and appearing in court, and then skillfully negotiated an amicable resolution to what had been largely a misunderstanding between parties. The charges were changed from a criminal misdemeanor to a traffic citation, and the matter was formally closed. I cannot say enough good words about Ms. Medvin's compassion to me throughout this process, and her knowledge of the law and the courts. I was extremely impressed by her acumen in the court room. Marina Medvin is bright, articulate, professional, and personable. Her knowledge of the law enabled my Class 1 Misdemeanor charge for failure to report an collision with an attended vehicle to be amended to a local Fairfax County Ordinance Violation for failure to report damage to unattended property... valued at less that $50 (which is not designated as a crime, just a violation that carries a maximum penalty pf $50).

Would highly recommend Marina if you want someone who knows how to negotiate for you and counsel you for the best results. Highly recommend Marina.

Passing a School Bus can be very bad in VA, as there are apparently two versions of it in terms of whether a just a payable ticket or a jail-able offense akin to Reckless Driving. I of course received the steeper version of the violation by the polite but uncertain policeman. I could get up to a yea...r in Jail and/or a steep fine past $1000, I was told by the court. Even though I knew I did not violate this, I was just going to pay the fine since I could not easily be present for the trial. The court would not allow my handling this remotely, where they stated I had to appear even though I live in another state since this is such a bad offense. Attending potentially 3 court appearances would obviously be difficult for me. I did get to VA for the arraignment, but needed a lawyer I could trust to attend the subsequent hearing(s) and trial on my behalf and use skills to argue that I didn't pass that school bus or endanger any kids. Medvin excelled in getting the case dropped during the first hearing. Very impressive. I hereby recommend Marina Medvin's legal services.
