Excellent service!

Marina Medvin is an excellent, well prepared, thoughtful and thorough attorney. She represented me on a DWI charge and prior to my court date she answered all of my questions, she communicated with me regularly, she made it very clear what was going to happen and what I could expect. She was able to ...get my case dismissed so I am more than satisfied. I watched another DWI case prior to my case being called, and she was head and shoulders a much better attorney than that defense lawyer and the prosecutor. I highly recommend her services; it was well worth the money.

The lawyer you need!

I was charged with a 2nd DUI in 5 to 10 years with Refusal but Ms. Medvin worked to reduce it to a DUI 1st offense with 2 days in jail and mandatory minimum fines with ASAP classes and a restricted license for a year. My Refusal charge was also dropped. I did a lot of research to find a lawyer that w...ould defend me best since my case had a few complications. Ms. Medvin was the first one to call me back and email me. After reading her reviews, I decided to hire her to represent me. I was worried sick about what would happen to my life and that I would be in jail for a long time and have no license for 3 years. Ms. Medvin replied to every email that I sent her in time and returned my phone calls. She is very understanding, knowledgeable and clearly takes her work seriously. Once I met with her, I was able think more optimistically about my situation rather than stay stressed out. I would recommend her to anyone going through a similar situation.

Professional, Experienced, Successful Criminal Defense Attorney

Upon being arrested on charges of DUI 2nd and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer, I began researching possible attorneys to defend me and was immediately struck by Marina's reputation and track record of success. She was professional and prompt in all of my dealings with her and immediately grasp...ed the evidentiary strengths and weaknesses of the Commonwealth's case and important legal issues that could be used as leverage to negotiate an acceptable plea deal. Based on her skill and experience, she was able to get the Commonwealth to reduce my charge to a first offense DUI, drop the refusal charge and prevent me from having to serve any jail time. It is obvious that she has a good working relationship with the various Commonwealth Attorneys, which only makes an acceptable outcome for her clients that much more likely. I wholeheartedly recommend Marina to any individual needing criminal defense representation in the jurisdictions where she practices.

Professional, Honest and an Educator

Ms. Medvin was my representation in a recent DUI/DWI case where I refused to submit to a breathalyzer exam/sobriety check. I contacted Ms. Medvin on a referral. She was extremely responsive and made me feel as though I were her only client. She appeared with me at every court appearance and quickl...y followed up with reports on next steps. She consistently provided objective guidance and a clear set of options to consider in such a DUI/DWI case. Ms. Medvin was effective in educating me on the DUI/DWI laws and the possible outcomes of a conviction. This allowed me to make informed decisions on how to move forward through the court process. I never felt out of touch with the status of my case. I knew if I had a question it would be answered honestly and with with my interests being considered. I received a reduced sentence, was granted special driving restrictions and minor fine as a result. Ms. Medvin made it a point to sit with me through my initial probation screening to insure all the awarded driving restrictions were noted. This was extremely important as the probation office had not received this information and without her supervision may have been excluded in my probation terms. And finally, she provided (without hesitation) her assistance months later in submitting a travel request on my behalf. I can not thank her enough for efforts on my behalf. Marina Medvin's legal experience and service to the client is world class.

Apathetic

Hired attorney I had received a DUI on Pentagon grounds late last year and hired Marina Medvin based on the really positive reviews on this website and other websites. I hired her and sent her my police report, but never saw her until the actual court date, which is fine enough. I received 2 days ...jail time, a restricted license and probation for a year, 40 hours community service, and a mandatory alcohol education class from the Federal court in the great state of Virginia. The real problems came up afterwards. I get it, my case was closed and she got her $5000 fee so she didn't care anymore, but considering there were related problems afterwards to my court order, with one MAJOR issue where she was completely wrong, I felt she could have at least made an effort to correct her own mistake. The first problem was that my jail time fell on the Friday and Saturday in January when we had the major blizzard. My jail sentence was on the eastern shore of Maryland, about 60 miles from home across the Bay Bridge, and with the snow I was seeing if I could get my jail date postponed. I called the jail and the courthouse, and they both told me that the best thing to do would be to call my lawyer and ask her to request the sentencing the judge for a postponement. I called her with no response, and her response to my email was that she wasn't involved in this and that I should ask my PO. OK whatever, so instead of dealing with the headache of being led around in circles, I just decided to drive through the blizzard Friday night to jail, and drive back home Saturday night in the blizzard. The second thing that happened is what really led to this review and her rating. Although I was pulled over in VA, my driver's license and state of residence is MD. She ASSURED me that the Federal order for the restricted driver's license could not be enforced, and that the VA DMV would not be involved since I was pulled over in federal property and I had a Maryland driver's license. To my shock and surprise, I received a letter from the VA DMV informing me that 1) my license was suspended, 2)I had to complete a VA alcohol class ($400), 3)I had to submit a special certification of insurance for DUI drivers, and 4) I had to pay a $220 reinstatement fee. This was a huge psychological blow to me, because the one comfort I had with going to jail was that the end was in sight. All I had to do afterwards was complete 40 hours of community service, and any Maryland alcohol class, even an online one (per my Federal PO). But with this letter I felt like I was being dragged back down. I emailed Marina about this, and her response was that she had never seen this happen before, and IF I WAS SURE THAT I HAD A MARYLAND DRIVERS LICENSE. Yes, I'm sure what state I live in and drive in, thanks. Other than that, she had nothing else to say, just that I should call the DMV and ask if it was a mistake. I called them, and no it was not a mistake. When I told her this, she said it wasn't that bad because I had to take the alcohol class anyway, and all I could do was keep talking to the DMV, but that she didn't know what else to do because she doesn't deal with the DMV. And that was it; she did not offer to help in any other way, or try to help correct this blaring mistake that she had made.
