A trustworthy, helpful, lawyer! I'm sold.

What do you think when you hear "lawyers"? Yeah me too- greedy, overpaid crooks who get paid ridiculous amounts of money to put in minimal effort for an outcome they cannot even guarantee. Well, I can't say that my general opinion of all lawyers has changed because of my one amazingly positive experi...ence with Steven Krieger, but I will say that I've never been so surprised and happy to be wrong. I had gotten a property manager to manage my condo, which had an existing tenant who had always struggled to pay on time but faithfully paid every month for a year and a half. Within less than 4 months, the terrible property manager had brought the situation to this: possible eviction, a court date, and two months of unpaid rent while the tenant was still living in my condo. I was overseas, had never had an issue like this before, and didn't know what to do. This is exceptionally difficult for someone like me, who trusts rarely and doesn't like being unsure or out of control. The court date was set and looming, and i didn't want the manager representing me in court (he had already proven unreliable for everything), but i didn't have any personal recommendations for good lawyers, so I had to do the dreaded cold-calling of people in a profession i don't trust to help me. I HATE DOING THIS. I'm a research freak and very detail-oriented so this process takes FOREVER. Steven Krieger Law has nothing but 5 star ratings, but how am i to know it's not just a bunch of his friends or people he paid off. His website motto says: practical solutions, honest advice, for everyone. OK that's what all lawyers want you to believe. So I still called him assuming the worst. But in this case, i am happy to report i was wrong and he made me believe his motto and stellar ratings over the course of several emails and phone calls that he didn't even charge me for (most lawyers seem to believe that 10 minutes of their time should cost $50 before i even know who i'm talking to. I'd rather give $50 bucks to 6 random people in an hour and do more good for the world). Lucky for me, Steven was one of the first lawyers i called...and became both the last one i called for this situation and the first one i will call again if i need a lawyer in any of the following fields: Consumer Protection Law, Family Law, H-1B Visas, Landlord & Tenant, Online Defamation & Fraud, Small Business, and Zoning matters. Actually i'd probably just call him first for any lawyer-necessary matters just to get an honest opinion. P.S. he never pressured me, and actually ended up recommending that i privately work my issue out with the tenant, effectively talking himself out of a job. P.P.S. I do not know Steven personally, i have not been paid off or gotten any discounts, and i have nothing personally to gain form writing this review. I also rarely write reviews for anything, but i felt such sincere gratitude for his help that this was the least i could do.

Great Service & helpful knowledge

Mr. Krieger is not only knowledgeable, but also likes to help and provide a good advice. I contacted him regarding a small claim case against my landlord, even though he can't represent me in this case, his service and timely response to my emails was second to none. I cannot thank him enough, and... I would recommend him for any landlord and tenant related cases. The world needs more lawyer like Mr. Krieger.

Landlords - Don't try to do it yourself! Call Steven Krieger!

I am a landlord and owner of a residential property in Alexandria. I was seeking to evict one of my tenants who was way behind on his rent. I thought I could handle the eviction process myself without hiring a lawyer...seemed like a straightforward process and an open and shut case. However, due t...o a legal technicality, I lost the case at trial. I hired Steven to represent me at my appeal and I won a judgment that I otherwise would not have received. I should have hired Steven from the beginning! Worth the time, money and peace of mind. Don't try and handle eviction by yourself!

Highly Recommended

My tenants were not paying their rent and were refusing to vacate my property. The management company to which I entrusted my property while I was overseas kept charging a monthly fee but did not collect the rent. Seven months in with no rent money and an exploitative management company, it was beyon...d time to find a lawyer! I found Mr. Steven Krieger’s blog post regarding the eviction process in Virginia. I was impressed by the level of detail he provided and the clear, concise way he presented information on the topic (he was certainly far more thorough than the county website). He also freely answered people’s questions on the post itself, something I hadn’t seen other lawyers do on their websites. After reading the reviews on his service, I decided to contact Mr. Krieger to resolve the problems with my tenants and evict them. He was the best thing happened to me in this ordeal. Any dread I had about the situation was eased from the very first call. Mr. Krieger answered my emails immediately, even the ones I sent very late in the day, and he remained extremely punctual throughout the legal process. He answered all my questions, provided calm and sharp insight, gave excellent advice, and always kept my interests in mind. Mr. Krieger’s assistant, Ms. Assya Thode, also kindly provided prompt help. They both were very compassionate and sensitive to my situation. During the five months he worked on my case, Mr. Krieger offered goal-oriented guidance. Our court procedures took a longer time than I expected because the tenants appealed the case. In court, while the tenant’s lawyer resorted to crude assumptions to discredit my case, Mr. Krieger remained confident and composed. Ultimately, the tenants paid all of the unpaid rent, late fees, attorney’s fees, and had to vacate our home. In the process, I learned not to waste time before going to court in case of any problem with tenants. I also learned that an excellent lawyer like Mr. Krieger is indispensable. I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Steven Krieger. Thank you Steven for a stellar job!

Extremely Helpful

My roommates and I were involved in a lawsuit with our former landlord that had started off as a small claims case we filed against him to return our security deposit and ended up as circuit court case in which he counterclaimed $10k in damages. None of us were expecting the complete overreaction ...on the part of the landlord, and after trying to navigate the waters ourselves with no experience in litigation, we knew we had to consult a lawyer. We found Steven through the Arlington County Bar Association and set up a work session with him after speaking to him on the phone. We brought all our paperwork and he explained to us how to respond to the landlord's claims. He answered all our questions and remained responsive and available via phone and email after the work session was complete- even months later when we were in the process of discovery. I cannot stress enough how much clarity he brought to what was a convoluted and confusing ordeal. He provided us with the tools we needed to make sense of the case and fight it on our own. In the end, not only did the landlord not get anywhere near the $10k he was asking for, he was ordered to return part of the security deposit back to us! I would recommend Steven's services to anyone needing help with tenant-landlord issues. My experience with him was outstanding.
