Outstanding Representation
It has been a while since Mr. Lastra represented me. It was a very difficult time with an uncooperative husband; my green card and legal status in this country was also in danger, but he got my divorce in just a few weeks which was my deadline to give my divorce decree to USCIS. I feel so blessed to ...

Worst mistake I ever made was hiring Carlos Lastra for my case.
I hired Carlos Lastra to represent me in a simple custody case significantly based on the reviews provided on this web site. To make a long story short, his fees exceeded $100,000.00 and for a case that was estimated, by Mr. Lastra to cost about $20,000-$30,000. To put this in perspective, opposing c...
To whomever this anonymous person is, I regret that despite, as you wrote: “in the end, the judgement was as expected…” you believe that you were overcharged. I am very sensitive to the costs, both financially and personally, that these type of cases can have on my clients. I am also very aware and humbled that my clients have placed their ultimate trust in me, including in many instances decisions that will be made by them in a settlement agreement or by a Judge after trial concerning their property, homes, retirement, their future income, and the amount of time they will have with their children, to name just a few. Consequently, I work diligently to have every aspect of my case: pleadings, motions, exhibits, client, witnesses and myself prepared for trial. This is the only way to secure or exceed the judgment expected. Also, I always discuss with my client decisions to be made in the case, including the hiring of experts, from a costs versus benefits perspective. When dealing with financial matters the amount of the asset or debt sets the parameters. This is not always the case with custody. For many custody clients, their response is that they cannot put a price on their future with their kids. Nevertheless, I always discuss the issue of costs with my client so that they can ultimately decide the amount of time and effort they want to invest. This is always the client’s decision. I do wish you the best in your future endeavors and respectfully request that you contact me directly to discuss this or any other concerns.
