Shaka Johnson is a really great lawyer. I was charged with DUI after my car broke down on the interstate in Philadelphia. Officers are suppose to protect the people, but instead of asking whether I was was okay, this officer treated me like a criminal because a portion of my car was still in the ro...ad. (Yes, I know this is dangerous, but the officer could have asked to help, instead of assuming the worst in me). Even after I told this officer that my car was giving me trouble, and he could see that I was visibly upset because I did not have anyone to help me, as I live in Virginia and was only here to pay my respects to a friend, he still treated me like a criminal. Much to my surprise, I was being arrested for DUI with refusal, and I had not had a single drink! After my husband learned of my arrest, he googled attorney's in the area and called around. Because it was late, most people did not respond, but Shaka responded to his web inquiry and provided his cell phone number for my husband to call him...this was at 10:30 PM!!! He informed my husband that I had nothing to worry about and was present at my arraignment at 4 AM. I was released ROR and went home to my family. I spoke to Shaka several times and each time he assured me that I had nothing to worry about and he was handling the situation. He asked me to trust him and to not stress, so I did! When my husband and I arrived in Philadelphia for my trial, Shaka was not present so I began to worry, but the lady at his office assured me that he was coming, but had other hearings scheduled that day. We waited until about 10:45 AM, but the wait was worth it. Shaka came in and went straight to work. He did a motion to suppress the arrest in my case and he WON! Because the officer lied, the judge did not believe anything he was saying. There was so many people whispering behind me and commenting on what was going on, that I knew I made the right choice! I told Shaka he would by my family's lawyer, and we laughed because having no family in the area is what got me in this situation in the first place, but he understood what I meant. I wish I could give him more stars because this review does not even encompass the stress relief that he has given my family. No, he was not always available to answer the same questions each time I would call him (I think I called maybe 100 times to ask him what would happen at trial :) , but he was available when I needed him the most--when I was locked in a jail cell with no hope because I did not know if my husband found an attorney AND when he showed the entire courtroom that the officer lied on me and wrongfully arrested me). Moral of the story: I had one of the best attorneys in the world and I would refer him to ANYONE!!!!!

Shaka was actually referred by a friend. I hired him to represent my brother for a gun charge (which we're currently still fighting). And he is actually currently on parole for prior gun charges. Before meeting with Shaka, I already heard so many great things about him, but let me tell you once I sat... down with him and I seen his whole outlook on what he does and his demeanor, I felt completely confident about hiring him. He talks in a manner you'll understand and he tells you the just of things honestly, wether they be good or bad. He makes you feel comfortable to talk about anything. He's very professional but also rational when it comes to his cases. When we just attended the preliminary hearing, he fought like we were already in trial ! Everyone was stunned by his performance ! Even the families of other people waiting to be called were gasping in the background. When we left the court room he had multiple people coming up to him asking for business cards. This man is the truth ! I was absolutely astonished at his work ! He is very aggressive in the court room when getting his point and all the facts across. He's very passionate about what he does and it shows ! He honestly made the prosecutor and judge silent after speaking. It's also a BIG PLUS that he was an ex police officer, S.W.A.T. team member, Narcotics Officer, & a member of the district attorney's office. He has major things under his belt ! So he knows how people in those positions work so he has a relatable understanding while handling his cases. I'm so Glad I hired him & am thankful for his work and expertise even if he doesn't beat the case at trial. I'll know he tried his complete best and that's what counts. HIRE SHAKA IF YOU WANT RESULTS !
