To say I was disappointed would be a understatement. I hired James after for a DUI I had in October 2020. James in the beginning was very attentive answering all my questions. He offered me a very reasonable rate under cutting all other attorneys. I was happy up until this point. Once paid, Jam...es became very distant. He would respond to e-mails but very sparingly. Come our first trial date, James did not even show up. Another lawyer was on the call which is fine but this was not communicated to me whatsoever. This was the common case James never really reached out to me after payment was given. My 2nd court date nobody even showed up! The judge was asking me where is my council which I had no answer for. James stated he had a power outage which quite honestly I found hard to believe at this point. My final court date James stated since our preliminary meeting that 3 months of interlock would be the sentence as I blew a low number .10. James stated he spoke to the prosecutor to bring it down to a .09 which would be a 3 month interlock sentence. During our court appearance when James brought up the 3 month sentence the Prosecutor stated "James I never said that". Both the judge and prosecutor were perplexed by James insinuating that 3 months was predetermined. I then got the blow of getting the full sentence of 7 months. I was speechless to say the least. For several months I was told I would get the 3 months by James. Of course this is up to the judge but I wish I knew that 7 months was even a possibility. This was not the case I was told on multiple occasions 3 months would be the sentence. I found James lackluster in the fight portion of an attorney. I was hoping to get an attorney to fight and give me options rather then push another case down the line. I believe I would have gotten the same sentence without an attorney which says a lot. I believed I paid him for no reason. I will choose another attorney next time and I suggest you do the same.

James and John, the attorneys in the office, provided competent legal expertise throughout the process, and I'm happy to say that they w...ere able to show that all accusations were unfounded, and no charges were ever filed.

I started out with a different attorney (Who was a nightmare ) and on a whim ; a friend’s suggestion ..... I hired James Abate and his team ; They were so very professional, attentive and considera...te. After a short time I realized (and I read) that I had inadvertently hired one of the best lawyers in NJ for this type if case. His team were phenomenally on top of everything. They were a finely tuned [machine] / on point with their approach and discovery. This is what I needed. Early on ; We had an extremely Difficult court situation , however Mr. Abate always maintained his composure and was perfectly profesional when faced with this demeanor. I truly believe that this was the turning point in the process. At this point the judge was agreeable to Abates suggestions. I was very impressed with how Mr. Abate dissected the entire case going back many many years. So strategic; he had uncovered major issues and mistakes that turned out to be almost the entire case! SIDE-NOTE: Temporarily I had money issues. HOWEVER Mr. Abate was so understanding and he continued pursuit without hesitation. At the end - Abate‘s team delivered! So very pleased!!! We closed the case without ANY JAIL time!!!! Finally Im able to rest ......... after over a year of working this case. Thank you Mr. Abate and your hard working team!
